Mert & MarcusCould this be the year Taylor Swift gets an Oscar nomination?

Taylor’s just one of several pop music performers with a song eligible for nomination at the 90th Academy Awards.  On Monday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, revealed a list of the 70 songs that are eligible for nominations in the category of best original song.

Among the contenders is “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” Taylor’s duet with Zayn from the soundtrack of Fifty Shades Darker.  The award goes to the songwriters, not the performers, and Taylor is one of the co-writers on the tune — sorry, but Zayn isn’t.

Other writer/performers in contention are Nick Jonas for the tune he co-wrote and performs on the Ferdinand soundtrack, “Home.”  Mariah Carey‘s “The Star,” from the film of the same name, is in contention too, as is Sara Bareilles‘ “If I Dare” from Battle of the Sexes. Ryan Tedder has a shot at a nomination for OneRepublic‘s “Truth to Power” from An Inconvenient Sequel.

Oscar nominations will be announced Tuesday, January 23.
