Jade EhlersFilming on TV shows and movies generally wraps well before Christmas, but musicians sometimes work right up ’til the last minute. That’s why most singers are excited about their annual Christmas breaks, so they can see loved ones and enjoy favorite holiday traditions.

MAX says he’s looking forward to being with his wife Emily — who inspired his hit “Lights Down Low” —  and celebrating the traditions of both their heritages.

“We’re gonna be with her family and doing the British and Latin Christmas,” he tells ABC Radio. “And Chinese food on Christmas, hopefully, with my dad,”  referring to the popular Jewish tradition of eating Chinese food on Christmas Day.  In the past, Chinese restaurants were among the few eateries open on December 25.

“I’m excited,” MAX adds. “We get to actually just hang out, which is so cool.”

Food also is on the mind of Echosmith‘s Sydney Sierota.  “I’m a big, big holiday fan in general so I’m just excited to bake everything Christmasy,” she tells ABC Radio. “So I’m gonna be in the kitchen, because why not?  That’s what you’re supposed to do this time of year!”

Actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter looks to Santa’s elves for her family’s holiday tradition.

“The elves come every Christmas Eve and they give us pajamas,” she tells ABC Radio. “So I’ll be looking forward to my new pajamas, for sure!”

For rapper G-Eazy, the best family Christmas tradition is family.

“Just getting to see each other, to be honest,” he tells ABC Radio. “It’s tough ’cause as a musician, you spend so much time on the road, touring and traveling, and filming…shooting…recording…performing…it becomes hard to get home.”

The rapper adds, “Seeing family becomes a rarity the older you get. So using the holidays as a time to get together is always beautiful.”
