Sombr says he thought compliment from Taylor Swift was AI

Sombr performs on ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ (Disney/Randy Holmes)

There’s so much AI content floating around online these days that you never know what’s real. Maybe that’s why we can forgive sombr for thinking that a quote from Taylor Swift praising him was fake.

Taylor did an interview in October in which she said, “Tate McRae is amazing. Sombr is amazing. There are so many incredible artists that I love listening to … I’m supporting them by streaming their music constantly in my house.”

Speaking to Vanity Fair, sombr said, “[E]very time anything cool happens to me, I’m sleeping. And I sleep really late, so I always wake up and already have a bunch of texts about it, spoiling it. … I just woke up and I opened my texts: ‘Taylor Swift mentioned you!’ I was like, No, no way. This is AI. But it wasn’t!”

“I was … six years old listening to pop radio, and it was Taylor Swift. Now I’m on pop radio with Taylor Swift, and she says she listens to my music,” he continued. “Life doesn’t feel real. And what do you mean, I’m a pop star? I’m still trying to process it all.”

The best new artist Grammy nominee had a similarly suspicious reaction to hearing his song on the radio for the first time. “I remember, when it first started picking up, I was going to meet my friends, and I got into an Uber and ‘Undressed’ was just on, and I had never experienced something like that, so I got really scared,” he told Vanity Fair.

“I was like, Am I getting kidnapped? Then I looked at the screen on the car and it was just on a radio station. Ever since then, it’s gotten to be more normal.”

Cassandra Freeman says Aunt Viv focuses on ‘sanity and mental health’ in ‘Bel-Air”s final season

Key art for season 4 of ‘Bel-Air’ (Peacock)

Aunt Vivian is putting her mental health first in the fourth and final season of Bel-Air. Cassandra Freeman, who plays Aunt Viv on the Peacock series, tells ABC Audio the season finds her once again balancing family and ambition, but doing so on her own terms.

“I’m really big on this philosophy of the more women center themselves in their life and work, the easier life is, and I feel that a lot with Aunt Viv,” she says. “She could go back to her old ways in season 1 and only center her family, and in this [season] she’s like, ‘No, I’m gonna redo this thing.’ And she’s gonna put her own sanity and mental health in the driver’s seat, which is why she makes a lot of the decisions that she makes.”

Aunt Viv, as fans know, is the matriarch of the Banks family; the other women in the family are Hilary and Ashley, played by Coco Jones and Akira Akbar, respectively.

Coco says fans “will be gagged” by her storyline in the fourth season, especially when it comes to her relationships with LeMarcus and Jazz.

“I think Hilary has a lot on her shoulders this season. And it does get rocky, I can’t even lie, but it comes out with her finding a purpose and finding a reason behind all of the things,” Coco explains.

And Akira says Ashley becomes “more comfortable with who she is and her identity” while growing up and still going through “teenager problems.”

The first three episodes of Bel-Air‘s fourth season are now streaming on Peacock.

Tim Allen teases a Buzz Lightyear, Jessie scene from ‘Toy Story 5’

Toy Story 5 may be headed to big screens next summer, but Tim Allen has a couple of teases to share in the meantime.

The first teaser trailer for the Pixar film arrived on Nov. 11, and it showed how everybody’s favorite toys react to their caretaker, Bonnie, receiving a frog-shaped smart tablet called Lilypad.

Allen, who has voiced Buzz Lightyear in all five Toy Story films, caught up with ABC Audio back in May, where he spoke about what fans of the franchise can expect in the upcoming sequel film.

“Look, I’m a movie buff. I don’t like sequels, and I feel that [Toy Story] 3 was really, really good. [Toy Story] 2 was great. [Toy Story] 1, of course, is my favorite. [Toy Story] 4 was scary and very emotional. And I thought we were done at Toy Story [3]. They resurrected it,” Allen said.

The actor said that Andrew Stanton, who wrote the screenplay for the second film, is directing the fifth installment.

“He pitched this. I think it’s brilliant. And I’ll speak for Tom [Hanks],” Allen said, referencing the actor who voices the toy cowboy, Woody. “Tom did his part about a week ago. I finished the second [recording] series just yesterday, a five-hour session,” Allen said.

“It’s real funny,” Allen says of Toy Story 5. “It’s a big story about Jessie, which is wonderful. We’re all separated now because of time. It’s a real, real, real clever story.”

When asked if Jessie (Joan Cusack) and Buzz Lightyear’s romance factors in to the plot of Toy Story 5, Allen says, “Yes, that’s part of this.”

Allen then went on to tease a scene from the film.

“I’ll give you this. One of the kids that plays with us is giving a wedding with all the other characters. So she puts Buzz and Jessie together. And you know, kids are just doing that. But Buzz takes it very seriously.”

Toy Story 5 rides like the wind into theaters on June 19, 2026.

Kevin Jonas on future solo music & acting alongside Nick and Joe

Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas attend the New York premiere of ‘A Very Jonas Christmas Movie’ (Disney/Jose Alvarado)

Kevin Jonas fears telling his brothers he wants to sing lead in A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, but in real life, he he recently released his first solo single, “Changing.” That, however, doesn’t mean an album is the next step.

Speaking to Billboard‘s Pop Shop podcast, Kevin says he’s been “recording more music.” However, since he’s an independent artist, he can “do kind of whatever I want, so I don’t have to follow specific rules” regarding releases.

“I don’t know if an album’s in the works. Maybe an EP, maybe just a collection of some music that I like over the course of the year,” he adds. “I really don’t have exact plans. I know the next song I want to release, but as of right now, I’m gonna get through this one first.”

Kevin also says in the interview that a Christmas movie was a “bucket-list item” for Jonas Brothers, who wanted to make one from back in their early days on the Disney Channel. However, he notes, “It really happened at the right time. Our families are involved. I think we can speak to the adult nature of things now, at the same time of allowing it to be just enough fun so kids will love it.”

Kevin also explains how he got through the film, as he isn’t an experienced like brothers Nick and Joe Jonas.

“I leaned on [Joe and Nick] a lot. I worked with an amazing acting coach … I really called him every day,” he says.

He continues, “Playing yourself to start is a weird challenge… I just kind of had to do the best version.”

Paul Mescal, Jessie Buckley on the emotional response to ‘Hamnet’

Hamnet is ready to break your heart.

The film, directed by Chloé Zhao and based on the novel by Maggie O’Farrell, tells the fictional story of how deep love and a devastating loss in William Shakespeare‘s personal life helped shape his enduring classic Hamlet. Paul Mescal plays a young Shakespeare, who falls in love with a wild spirit named Agnes, played by Jessie Buckley.

Buckley says she’s proud of the emotional response the film has been getting.

“I love that like some people just need to sit in the cinema for five minutes after it, or go and take a walk. And that there is catharsis in that release, you know, to feel,” she says.

“I think we spend so much of our lives walking around just trying to survive,” she adds. “And sometimes those feelings that really need a vessel to be held and to be let go of aren’t available. So I just feel so proud that this story can offer that to people.”

Even though audiences will likely be reaching for the tissues while watching it, Mescal notes that it’s not just a sad film.

“I really don’t want people to think they’re going into this film that is about death,” he says. “It’s a film that’s rooted deeply in Agnes and Will’s love for each other, the love they have for their children. And the only reason that the grief, I think, is so profound is that you can see them battling to hold on to that love in the most impossible of places.”

That depth of feeling is a testament to the relationship Buckley and Mescal built both on and off screen.

“It has been one of the most important collaborations and relationships I have in my life,” Buckley says. “And I feel like it’s just the beginning.”

Hamnet is in limited release now and expands to wider release on Dec. 5.

Simon Cowell remembers Liam Payne: ‘I wish I could turn back the clock’

One Direction and Simon Cowell celebrate 1D Day, a 7-hour livestream event broadcast exclusively on YouTube and Google+, November 23, 2013 (Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic)

One Direction member Liam Payne died in October 2024 after falling from the balcony of his hotel in Argentina; toxicology reports revealed he had a number of substances in his system at the time of his death. Simon Cowell, who helped launch One Direction to stardom on the U.K. version of The X Factor, tells the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast that the news “really hit me.” Simon says the last time he saw Liam, he thought he was “in a really good place.”

“I saw him a year before this happened. He came over to my house. We talked about his son and being a dad. I remember saying, ‘Music is not everything. Don’t let it run your life anymore. Find something else that you are passionate about,’” Simon recalls.

“You ask yourself that question: ‘Could I have done anything more?  What would’ve happened to Liam if he hadn’t been in the band?’” Simon continued. “Having spoken to his mom and dad recently, all they kept telling me was he was so proud of what he had achieved.”

“I wish I could turn back the clock, of course. When I spoke to him that day, I felt really good about him. I thought, ‘Wow, you seem in a really good place.’”

Asked about the blame he received in the media after Liam’s death, Simon says, “The idea that you are essentially responsible for somebody’s life, 10 years after you’ve signed someone? You can’t do that.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Simon says that he wished the finale of the first season of America Idol had been a choice between Kelly Clarkson and Tamyra Grey, not Justin Guarini. He claimed Justin “would be the first to admit [to] himself” that he wasn’t good enough to go up against Kelly.
