Sombr’s angling for an invite to Taylor Swift’s wedding

Sombr performs on ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ (Disney/Randy Holmes)

Sombr was thrilled to find out this fall that Taylor Swift is a fan of his music. Now he’s hoping her love of his music will translate into an invitation to her wedding to Travis Kelce.

In an interview with Vulture about his favorite movies, music, concerts and other pop culture events of 2025, the “undressed” singer was asked to name the “cultural moment that fascinated you the most this year.” His answer was likely the same as millions of others: Taylor’s engagement.

“Man, I’m just happy for them,” he says. “I grew up with Taylor Swift, and seeing one of my favorite artists from my childhood getting engaged is really cool to see. I just hope they invite me to the wedding.”

Along the same lines, sombr chose Taylor’s album The Life of a Showgirl as one of his favorite albums or songs of 2025, along with Olivia Dean‘s The Art of Loving, Ravyn Lenae‘s Love Me Now and Audrey Hobert in general.

Asked to name his most memorable concert, sombr chose himself — with some help. “Bringing out Sam Smith, Laufey, Foster the People, Cigarettes After Sex, and Suki Waterhouse as guests at my own concerts,” he said.

Super Bowl national anthem singer Charlie Puth knows he’s no Whitney Houston

Charlie Puth wants you to know that he’s well aware that his performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the upcoming Super Bowl LX won’t be as good as Whitney Houston‘s — but he’s going for it anyway.

When it was announced that Charlie would be singing the national anthem at this year’s big game, TikTok creator and self-described political commentator Link Lauren tweeted, “Man we’ve fallen from when Whitney Houston sang at the Super Bowl. Charlie Puth? He’s not gonna give us vocals I’m afraid.”

Charlie responded, “I’ll never claim to be as good of a singer as Whitney Houston ever was. But I assure you we’re putting a really special arrangement together- in D major. It’ll be one of my best vocal performances.”

Fun fact: “The Star-Spangled Banner” was originally written in B-flat major; Whitney sang her version in A-flat major.

Whitney’s version of the anthem, which she performed in 1991 at Super Bowl XXV, is often cited as one of the best renditions ever. It was even released as a single amid the Gulf War and reached #20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Rereleased to capture the patriotic spirit after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, it reached #6 and was RIAA-certified Platinum.

‘Harry Potter’ HBO series star Dominic McLaughlin on letter from Daniel Radcliffe

The boy who lived, squared.

Dominic McLaughlin, the young actor who has taken over the role of Harry Potter in the upcoming HBO TV series based on the books by J.K. Rowling, is opening up about a personal letter he received from Daniel Radcliffe, who originated the role in the popular film franchise.

McLaughlin shared what it was like to get a letter from Radcliffe in a recent interview with BBC’s Saturday Mash-Up! Live.

“I got a letter from the man himself, from Daniel Radcliffe,” McLaughlin said. “It was insane. I was on the train back up to Glasgow … and my dad tapped me on the train and just gave me this letter.”

The 11-year-old actor said he didn’t fully understand what he was reading until he reached the end of the page.

“I read it and then I got to the bottom, and it said ‘Dan R.,'” McLaughlin said. “I was going mad, but I had to [keep cool]. I was on the train.”

McLaughlin also shared an update on how the Harry Potter TV series is progressing.

The show has been “going amazing,” he said. “It’s going really well. I’ve made good friends with everyone, it’s great to be there.”

HBO shared first-look photos of McLaughlin in costume as Harry Potter and Nick Frost in costume as Hagrid in July. The photos were shared the same week cameras officially started rolling on the series as it began production at the Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England, the same location where all eight of the Harry Potter films were made.

McLaughlin leads the cast alongside Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton, who will play Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, respectively.

The Harry Potter series will premiere on HBO and HBO Max in 2027.

Christmas songs flood the Hot 100 top 10, but ‘Ophelia’ is still #1

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — if you love Christmas music. The Billboard Hot 100 top 10 has been invaded by holiday favorites, except for the top spot, which still belongs to Taylor Swift.

Taylor’s “The Fate of Ophelia” has now spent its first eight weeks at #1 on the Hot 100. No other song has done that since 2021, when Olivia Rodrigo‘s “drivers license” pulled off the same feat. “The Fate of Ophelia” also ties “Anti-Hero” as Taylor’s longest-running #1 hit. “Opalite,” the other fan-favorite tune from The Life of a Showgirl, is at #10.

As for the holiday tunes, Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has now jumped into the top five, while Wham!‘s “Last Christmas” follows at #6. Brenda Lee‘s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” is at #7, and Bobby Helms‘ “Jingle Bell Rock” is at #8.

As for non-Taylor, non-holiday songs in the top 10, HUNTR/X‘s “Golden” is #2; Alex Warren‘s “Ordinary” is #3. Olivia Dean‘s “The Man I Need” is #4. “Mutt” by Leon Thomas stands at #9.

Paramount has added a couple of new movies to its release schedule.

A new hybrid live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, as well as a Sonic the Hedgehog movie, will arrive to cinemas in 2028, ABC Audio has learned.

The currently untitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie has grabbed the Nov. 17, 2028, date for its release, while a similarly untitled “Sonic Universe Event Film” has nabbed Dec. 22, 2028.

Additionally, the studio announced it plans to rerelease the original Top Gun in theaters on May 13, 2026, in honor of its 40th anniversary.

Plot details for both the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Sonic films are being kept under wraps. Producer Neal H. Moritz is set to produce the former. He’s best known for the popular live-action Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy starring Ben Schwartz as the titular hedgehog and Jim Carrey as the mad scientist Dr. Robitnik.

This upcoming Sonic film is different from Sonic the Hedgehog 4, which is set for release on March 19, 2027.

Ed Sheeran refuses to get a phone, even after missing Taylor Swift’s engagement news

A few months ago, Taylor Swift revealed that she didn’t text Ed Sheeran to tell him she’d gotten engaged as soon as it happened because he doesn’t have a phone. As a result, Ed found out in the news, just like everyone else — but that’s fine with him.

While speaking to Access Hollywood, Ed was asked if that incident prompted him to change his “no phone” policy. “Nah,” he said, adding that he’s now gotten rid of his iPad as well, making it even harder to get in touch with him.

“My way of viewing it is, me and Taylor are mates, and I will see her. And I saw her a week after that happened,” he continued. “I kinda feel like being in touch with everyone, you lose actual human connection.” He added that he and Taylor had a “four-hour catch-up” about “life stuff.”

“We’ve been friends for very, very many years, we’re super-close and we see each other when we see each other,” he said. “And when we see each other, we lock back in to where we left off.”

Taylor has also said in interviews that Ed will definitely be invited to her wedding — whenever that will be — and he’ll probably end up performing, because it’ll be “hard to keep him” from doing so.

This Mormon wife is trading in her ballroom shoes for the Broadway stage.

Whitney Leavitt, one of the stars of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and a season 34 Dancing with the Stars contestant, will be making her Broadway debut in the Tony-winning revival of Chicago. Leavitt will star as Roxie Hart in the production, which marks her first-ever professional theatrical role.

The reality TV show personality and dancer made the announcement in a post shared to Instagram on Monday.

“Grateful beyond words to ANNOUNCE that I will be joining @chicagomusical in the iconic role of Roxie Hart,” Leavitt wrote. “See you in New York City! #chicagoonbroadway.”

Leavitt’s fellow DWTS contestant Elaine Hendrix sent support her way in the post’s comment section.

“Congratulations! Getting exactly what you wanted is pure girl fire,” Hendrix wrote alongside a fire emoji and a red heart emoji.

Leavitt will take over the role starting on Feb. 2, 2026. She’ll star for a six-week limited engagement that ends on March 15.

This isn’t her first time publicly dancing to Chicago‘s music. Leavitt performed an Argentine tango to “Cell Block Tango” with her professional dance partner, Mark Ballas, during an episode of DWTS last season.

Britney Spears’ memoir coming in paperback

Britney Spears, ‘The Woman In Me’ paperback edition (Gallery Books)

Dec. 2 is Britney Spears‘ birthday, but fans are the ones getting the gift: the paperback edition of her bestselling memoir, The Woman In Me.

The softcover version of the 2023 book comes with “gorgeous pink sprayed edges,” according to the publisher, and costs $20. It’s now available for preorder.

The original version, which detailed Britney’s career, her conservatorship, her past relationships and more, spent 20 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and sold nearly 3 million copies in the U.S. alone. The audiobook, read by actress Michelle Williams, spent seven months on the bestseller list.

The timing of the release seems serendipitous, since a memoir by Britney’s ex-husband Kevin Federline has recently been grabbing headlines for its shocking claims about Britney’s behavior. He claimed, among other things, that Britney drank wine while she was pregnant and did cocaine while she was still breastfeeding.

In October, Britney wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post, “The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting … trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here. I will always love [my sons] and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking.”

Taylor Swift‘s The Life of a Showgirl has been knocked out of the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart by the group with the most number-one albums this century.

DO IT, the new album by K-pop group Stray Kids, has debuted on top of the chart, marking their eighth #1 album. The Life of a Showgirl, which topped the chart for seven consecutive weeks, has subsequently fallen to #3.

Meanwhile, the Wicked soundtrack, featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, debuts at #2. Tate McRae‘s So Close to What has re-entered the top 10 after the release of a deluxe version, and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Aerosmith scored their 10th top-10 album with One More Time, an EP they recorded with alt-rocker YUNGBLUD.
