RCA Records(NEW YORK) — No wedding reception is complete without a spin of Kool & the Gang’s classic “Celebration,” right? Not according to a new survey of wedding DJs conducted by Billboard magazine, which puts that song right at the bottom of the most popular tunes played at weddings across the country.

Billboard asked wedding DJs in 13 different cities, including Las Vegas, New York, L.A. and Washington, D.C., for their lists of their most frequently played songs.  The publication then compiled a list of the 100 most popular tunes.  Surprisingly, “Celebration” is #100.  What’s #1?  “Uptown Funk,” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.

The list includes nearly every musical genre, from classic rock, to country, to pop, to new wave, to Latin, to hip-hop.  The top 10 is a cross-section of eras and styles, and includes some surprisingly recent tunes in addition to “Uptown Funk.”
