A few years ago, Taylor Swift dated Calvin Harris, a handsome, famous, super-successful British deejay, and they collaborated on a hit song. Now, another handsome, famous and super-successful British deejay would like to collaborate with Taylor — but he also happens to be the Sexiest Man Alive.
British actor Idris Elba, star of Luther, The Wire, the Thor movies and more, is People magazine’s reigning Sexiest Man Alive. He’s currently filming the upcoming movie version of the hit musical Cats with Taylor, which is why they presented together at this Sunday’s Golden Globes.
But in his spare time, Elba is also a deejay — in fact, he’ll play the Coachella Festival in April. And at the Golden Globes, he told Access Hollywood that in addition to acting with Taylor, he’d like to make music with her.
“This year’s been amazing, because I get to play and make music a lot more,” Elba told Access Hollywood. “And I’m hoping like that Taylor and I…I might get Taylor and I to do a song! I mean, that’d be great!”
“Woo! You heard it first!” he added, before jokingly saying, “All right…gotta go!”
Elba also praised Taylor’s work on Cats, saying she had real “acting chops,” and that acting “comes natural to her.”
“We’re cool, you know? She’s a good girl, she’s a great artist. She’s got a really good heart and she works hard,” he said. “And like I’m so excited to work with her in this film, she’s gonna be amazing.”
By the way., the song Taylor co-wrote with Calvin Harris, “This Is What You Came For,” featured lead vocals by Rihanna and became a top-three hit. Unfortunately, it also led to a very public Twitter war between Taylor and Calvin, who’d split up by that point.
