One of Fifth Harmony’s Biggest Girl Group Inspirations Offers Them Advice: “Just Keep It Moving”

Fifth Harmony fans know that Destiny’s Child is the group’s biggest inspiration, and if you watched ABC’s Greatest Hits last summer, you got to see the girls pay tribute to Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle.  Now, Kelly Rowland herself tells ABC Radio that she thinks Fifth Harmony are doing the right thing by continuing, and offers them some sage advice.

“They’re doing really good just by keeping it moving,” she tells ABC Radio. “You know I think that…people are actually now used to groups breaking up, which is so sad.”  Kelly recalls something her band mate Michelle Williams said of the numerous Destiny’s Child lineup changes: “It was just as simple as moving over.”

“That’s just how you have to think about it,” she notes. “You’ll miss that person, you’ll have memories with that person, but, you know, if you’re still having fun with the other ladies that are there and y’all have an understanding, that’s all that matters. And you just find other ways and other opportunities and avenues for yourself to carve out eventually.”

“So, I just say, ‘Still have fun,'” she advises. “They look like they haven’t missed a beat!”

Actually, when it comes to lineup changes, Fifth Harmony has nothing on Destiny’s Child.  The group started out as a quartet with Beyonce, Kelly, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson.  Then LeToya and LaTavia were replaced with Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin.  When Farrah left, Destiny’s Child continued as a trio.
