Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” now the longest-running #1 by a group in more than four years

222/InterscopeMaroon 5‘s “Girls Like You” has just grabbed a sixth week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it’s been years since a group has managed to stay on top for so long.

The last time that happened was in July of 2014, when MAGIC! stayed at #1 for six weeks with their first — and so far, only — hit, “Rude.” Prior to MAGIC!, the last group to stay at #1 for such a long time was…Maroon 5. They did it in 2012 when “One More Night” stayed on top for nine weeks.

Meanwhile, “Girls Like You” is #1 for a 14th week on Billboard’s Radio Songs chart, which measures airplay only. That ties it with two other songs: Alicia Keys‘ 2007 hit “No One” and Celine Dion‘s 1996 hit “Because You Loved Me.”

The only songs that have stayed at #1 on the Radio Songs chart longer are Mariah Carey‘s “We Belong Together” and No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak,” both at 16 weeks, and the all-time champ, “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls, at 18 weeks.
