According to People, the singer and the actor have announced they’re separating after eight years of marriage. In fact, they’ve apparently been apart for a while.
“With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year,” the couple says in a joint statement. “To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.”
Fergie, 42, and Duhamel, 44, have one child together: a four-year-old son named Axl.
In January, both Fergie and Duhamel shared Instagram photos in celebration of their eighth anniversary. They’ve continued to share photos of their family on social media, despite not being spotted in public together recently.
The announcement of the separation comes a week before the September 22 release of Fergie’s visual album, Double Dutchess.
