Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Helen Mirren’s about to put the pedal to the metal. The Oscar-winner has confirmed her involvement in the next Fast and the Furious movie.
“I want to be making film and theater, but film is particularly relevant. I like it to be serious. Of course, having said that I’m about to do Fast and Furious 8,” she tells Elle. “But that’s for the fun of it. So maybe that’s what I want as well, some fun and some relevant, serious, important movies.”
Mirren, of course, has had fast-paced fun on-screen before, most recently playing the sophisticated yet deadly, pearl-wearing assassin Victoria in the action comedies Red and Red 2.
Fast 8, also starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and franchise newcomer Charlize Theron, will open next April.
