Katy posted a behind-the-scenes video to her Twitter page of her backstage encounter with the iconic singer. In it, she tells Celine she’s planning to the do a chest slap on stage and then demonstrates it. But Celine jumps in to correct her. “It’s ok, I’ll teach you,” she says, before banging her fist on her chest the right way.
Katy later shows Celine her massive, mustard-colored dressing room. “It’s Celine Dijon,” Celine jokes, to Katy’s amusement.
While on stage that night, Katy thanked Celine for being an inspiration.
“People ask me,’When did you think you had made it?’ I’ll say, ‘When Celine Dion came to my show,’” she tells the crowd.
“So thank you so much for being such an inspiration to so many people around the world and for being an incredible example of a strong, beautiful, feminine, vulnerable, gorgeous, emotional woman.”
