LAVA/Republic RecordsJessie J has released the lyric video for her bittersweet Christmas tune, “This Christmas Day.”
The animated clip features a cartoon Jessie as she witnesses various happy holiday scenes while dealing with her own sadness of missing someone.
“I feel you/I hear you say/I know you’re not okay/I know it’s not the same/But you love me and that will never change/And I love you/On this Christmas day,” she sings.
Jessie previously explained the inspiration behind the song, her new Christmas album’s title track and sole original tune: “A very close friend of mine lost her brother, and watching someone I love go through such heavy grief everyday was so hard. I wanted to write something that could just bring a little comfort.”
She added, “On Christmas Day we celebrate, yes, but she and millions of other people around the world will also reflect and remember loved ones they so wish were here still. It’s a day where family and friends unite in love. This is the meaning behind that song, and why I called the album This Christmas Day.”
