That one time MAX got left at the altar…on someone else’s wedding day

Jade EhlersMAX wrote “Lights Down Low” for his now-wife Emily, and used it to propose to her.  Now, many fans are using the song to get engaged themselves, often at MAX’s concerts.  While MAX says he has yet to actually have a wedding take place at one of his shows, he did try — in fact, he was going to actually conduct the wedding himself.

“We had this one hilarious moment when this couple was gonna get married at a show and we coordinated with them, and then they just ghosted, they did not show up, the night of!” MAX tells ABC Radio. “I was so excited to marry them…and then they just didn’t show up!  It was crazy!”

Another reason Max was disappointed was because he had actually gotten ordained so he could perform the marriage legally.  But it’s not like he had to go out of his way to do it or anything.

“I’ll be honest, I was on the toilet, and I got ordained on my phone, very quickly,” he laughs. “I was like, ‘Ohmigosh, I forgot to get ordained!’ and in some states, it’s that simple — not to ruin the sanctity of marriage or anything.  But it’s lovely that…I could have. Y’know, I was ready to do it!”

While he waits to actually perform his first wedding, MAX is also working on new music. He has a single coming out Tuesday called “Still New York,” and he’s putting the finishing touches on a new album, the follow-up to the 2016 release Hell’s Kitchen Angel.

The record is pretty much done, we’ll be touring in the fall for it. I know the title and everything,” he teases. But he’ll only reveal that it’s a three-word title, and the initials are “H.O.D.”  Start guessing now.
