Selena Gomez is “bummed” about the focus of her “Elle” mag cover story

Mariano Vivanco for Elle magazineSelena Gomez isn’t thrilled with her Elle magazine cover story, apparently because she feels it focused too much on one particular aspect of her life.

Selena posted several photos to her Instagram account, and on each one, she wrote the same lengthy message. In it, she expresses her disappointment that the cover story mentions Hillsong, her church.  It’s mentioned three times in all.

“The purpose of my interview was three fold. My work with [the anti-human-trafficking charity] A21, my new collection with Coach, and some new music,” she writes, in part.  After saying she’s “grateful” for her position, she continues, “Church is a name for something far more personal.”

“There’s always agenda seeking information on such a subject and I understand why. Rarely do I mention church (and I didn’t), but I’ll always feel comfortable talking about my values and beliefs. I respect that from everyone and anyone,” Selena goes on.

“I understand that reporters are working to grab the attention of a reader, however I will always work to ensure that what is public represents my truth,” she adds. “I’m a bit bummed but rarely surprised. Y’all know me and my heart. I can’t help it.”

She signs off by telling her fans, “I love you guys to the moon and back.”

Ironically, Selena wrote all this on Instagram, after telling Elle, “I’m not on the internet. I haven’t been on the internet in months. I don’t have my password for Instagram.”
