ABC/Randy Holmes(NEW YORK) — Not long after the New York City premiere of Louis C.K.’s new movie I Love You, Daddy was abruptly cancelled Thursday, a New York Times report was released detailing accusations of sexual misconduct against the comedian.
According to the article, multiple women have come forward with stories of being sexually harassed by Louis C.K., including fellow comedians Dana Min Goodman, Julia Wolov,Abby Schachner, and Rebecca Corry.
Goodman and Wolov allege that in 2002, Louis C.K. invited them back to his hotel room after the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado. They claim that he then asked if he could “take out his penis.” They assumed he was joking.
“And then he really did it,” Goodman tells the Times. “He proceeded to take all of his clothes off, and get completely naked, and started [pleasuring himself].”
Schachner says that in 2003, she called Louis C.K. to invite him to one of her shows. She says that during the phone conversation, she could hear him [pleasuring himself] as they spoke.
Corry says she had a similarly disturbing encounter while she was appearing with Louis C.K. in a TV pilot in 2005. She says he asked if he could [pleasure himself] in front of her, and she declined. The show’s executive producers, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, both confirmed the incident to the Times.
A fifth woman spoke on the condition of anonymity and said that in the late ‘90s while working at The Chris Rock Show, Louis C.K. repeatedly asked her to watch him [pleasure himself]. She says she went along with his request, but knew it was wrong.
“I think the big piece of why I said yes was because of the culture,” she said. “He abused his power.”
Louis C.K. was contacted by the Times but declined to comment.
The Orchard, the film distributor of I Love You, Daddy, released a statement, saying: “In light of the allegations concerning Louis C.K. referenced in today’s New York Times, we are cancelling tonight’s premiere of I Love You, Daddy.”
The statement continues, “There is never a place for the behavior detailed in these allegations. As a result, we are giving careful consideration to the timing and release of the film and continuing to review the situation.”
