Brian Bowen SmithMeghan Trainor will be spending at least part of her Thanksgiving in Dallas, performing during halftime during the Cowboys’ annual Turkey Day game.

The Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving game marks the official kickoff of The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign, which collects money for Christmas toys for children, shelter and meals for the homeless and hungry, and other social service programs.

Meghan will perform live at AT&T Stadium when the Cowboys take on the Washington Redskins.  In a statement, she says, “I am so honored and excited to be performing…to kickoff the 128th Red Kettle campaign.”

“More than 40 million people live in poverty, and the money raised during the Red Kettle Campaign helps The Salvation Army give those in need a chance at a new life,” she adds.

Last year’s campaign raised just over $144 million dollars.  Since the campaign partnered with the Cowboys in 1997, nearly $2.4 billion has been raised.  This year, in addition to donating online or throwing money into those ubiquitous red kettles, you can ask Amazon Alexa to “donate to the Salvation Army,” or text KETTLES to 91999.
