MAX says, “Turn the Lights Down Low”….’cause here comes the bride

Jade EhlersMost artists like to engage with their fans on tour, but MAX is going one step further: he’s actually going to marry his fans.

“I’m getting to marry a couple on tour. I’m getting ordained,” the “Lights Down Low” singer told ABC Radio last month.  That wedding will take place in Chicago this weekend.

MAX says it all started when he decided to do something special for U.S. troops.

“I put out a post saying, ‘If you serve in our military…if you ever want to come to a show, just hit me up and I’ll hook it up,'” MAX explains. “And an amazing soldier hit me up and he said, ‘Hey, I serve and…I’m getting married soon and your song is our song, so I’d love to come to your show!”

Then, MAX says, things got interesting.

“He said, ‘I actually would really love to get married at the show. Is that kinda crazy?’ And I was like, ‘Nah, that would be the coolest thing ever, dude!'” recalls MAX.

“And I said, ‘Who do you want to marry you?’ And he was like, ‘Is it even crazier if I ask you to marry us?’ And I was like, ‘That’s that coolest thing anybody could ever ask!’”

As for whether this wedding is only one of many to come, MAX says, “Who knows? I mean, if it comes to [be] a regular part of the show, I feel like it might take away a little bit of the special quality, but it would also be an honor.

“That’s the stuff that I’ve dreamed of,” he gushes. “I’d take marrying a couple to the song that means so much to me over a [gold] plaque any day.”

MAX’s Meteor tour with ROZES plays Chicago Saturday and Sunday.
