Lindseystomp/Universal/ConcordFollowing her second-place finish on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, chart-topping violinist Lindsey Stirling is out on a Christmas tour in support of her holiday album Warmer in the Winter.  She says in crafting the album, she wanted to make it special because, as she says, “You only get one month to listen your favorites.”

Lindsey says the album is a mix of classic holiday tunes like “Let It Snow” and “Carol of the Bells,” and a few original songs, too.  “As I was writing, I thought, ‘Well, what are my favorite things about Christmas? What do I feel, what do I want to share?’ And I really love the ones that I came up with.”

Those include “Christmas C’mon,” featuring pop star Becky G, and the title track, which Lindsey sings.

“All these writing sessions were so fun ‘cause I’d just come out of them smiling,” she tells ABC Radio. “Here it is the middle of summer, it’s boiling hot outside, and I’m singing about peppermint and mistletoe. And it was awesome!”

Lindsey’s tour wraps up December 23; her Dancing with the Stars partner Mark Ballas is opening the shows with his band, Alexander Jean.  Then, Lindsey will spend time with family enjoying her favorite holiday traditions.

“We always get Christmas PJs that are all matching; we get them on Christmas Eve and we wear them,” she says. “And my family used to carol a lot…we would make cookies and we would deliver them to the neighbors and sing Christmas carols. And until I was in college, I didn’t realize that that was not something that everybody did!”

She laughs, “I suggested it to my roommates and they were like, ‘What, are you in a Charles Dickens novel?’ And I was like, ‘I thought everybody did this!'”
