ABC/Paula LoboBefore he releases his debut solo album, Liam Payne is putting out an EP.

The singer announced on social media Friday that the debut solo EP will be called First Time and will be dropping next week, on August 24. It’s available for pre-order now. The lead single, the EP’s title track, features French Montana.

He explained to fans why he’s releasing an EP before a full-length length collection, which he had previously promised would be out in September.

“As you may know, the last few months have seen some big changes for me,” he wrote. “I looked at some of the songs on my album which were done a while ago and they felt from another age.”

He continued, “I’m determined for my debut album to truly represent me. I’m now back in the studio working hard to finalize the final few new songs on the record — I’m genuinely excited about the music I’m writing and recording and I can’t wait for it to be ready for you all.”

In the meantime, though, Liam says this EP is “a collection of songs that I’m really proud of and want you all to hear.”

As for those “big changes” he mentioned, he could be referring to his split with Cheryl Cole last month, the mother of his one-year-old son, Bear.

Here is the First Time track list:

“First Time”
“Home With You”
“Depend On It”
“Slow”
