Variety reports that the movie is being produced by Justin’s manager, Scooter Braun, but Justin will executive-produce and star in the film, described as a “amazing, magical story.”
In classical Roman mythology, Cupid is the god of desire, erotic love, attraction and affection. He is sometimes portrayed as the son of Venus, the goddess of love, and is often depicted with wings and a bow and arrow. In mythology, anyone shot by Cupid’s arrow is immediately filled with desire.
Braun tells Variety, “When this project was brought to Justin, he instantly was excited to be a part of it. Fortunately for us, like Cupid, he knows a little bit about love and mischief.”
Braun’s production partner on the movie, David Maisel, executive produced the animated film The Angry Birds Movie, as well as the first two Iron Man movies and The Incredible Hulk.
Justin teased the movie on Instagram by posting a line drawing of Cupid standing with his back to the camera, holding his traditional bow and arrow.
