Courtesy Miami-Dade Police DepartmentOne of Justin Bieber‘s bodyguards has reportedly been arrested on a DUI charge in Miami, FL after he allegedly injured two Miami-Dade police officers in a traffic accident.
According to the arrest report, 32-year-old suspect Michael Arana was driving a Chevy Tahoe SUV that rear-ended a police cruiser early in southwest Miami-Dade County, causing heavy damage to the vehicle and injuring to of the officers inside. Arana then allegedly fled the scene.
When officers stopped his vehicle, Arana reportedly smelled of alcohol and confessed he’d been drinking. Officers said he refused to take a field sobriety test and also refused to give a blood sample at the scene. Officers declined to conduct a breathalyzer test due to a bleeding injury to Arana’s tongue, thought to have been sustained when the airbag in his SUV deployed during the accident.
ABC News affiliate WPLG-TV reports one of the two injured officers was airlifted from the scene; both were subsequently released from the hospital. The extent of their injuries wasn’t immediately known, but they’re said to be recovering.
Arana was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center Thursday morning on seven total counts including DUI, DUI causing property damage or injury, and leaving the scene of an accident. As of early Thursday morning, he was still in police custody.
