The singer/actress has been cast in the new film Hustlers, about a group of former strip club employees who hatch a plan to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients. J.Lo will play the group’s ringleader.
The film was written by Lorene Scafaria, who will also direct, and is based on the New York Magazine article “The Hustlers at Scores.” Scafaria’s script sets the story in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis and explores the effect it had on the dancers who relied on their Wall Street customers for their livelihoods.
“There is no other actor who could embody this raw and dynamic character with such complexity, humanity and intelligence,” Scafaria says of Jennifer in a statement. “It’s always been her. She’s f*****g Jennifer Lopez.”
Jennifer, recently announced as this year’s recipient of the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, will also executive-produce the movie.
