Jack Ryan, the Marine-turned-teacher-turned CIA analyst of Tom Clancy novel fame will live on in an Amazon original series, according to Variety.
John Krasinski of The Office fame — who recently showed off some action movie chops in the hit 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi — will take on the role that moviegoers first saw played by Alec Baldwin in 1990’s The Hunt for Red October.
Harrison Ford took over the part for 1992’s Patriot Games and 1994’s Clear and Present Danger. Ben Affleck attempted to bring the role back to life with 2002’s The Sum of All Fears, as did Chris Pine with 2014’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, but the latter two films faltered at the box office.
The initial order is for ten episodes, Variety reports. No premiere date’s yet been announced.
