In the last few years, Avril Lavigne has been through a divorce and a life-threatening battle with Lyme disease. But now she’s back, with new music and a new record deal.
Avril is currently in the studio working on a full-length album, to be released on the BMG label later this year. In an Instagram video, she says, “At this point in my career and in my life, I just wanted to put fresh energy around me, and I feel like I’m having somewhat of a rebirth in my life. I’ve been faced with a lot, gone through a lot emotionally. The whole writing process has been therapeutic and empowering.”
She adds, in a statement, “This album is a natural process for me and it’s coming from a very honest place. My hope is that it is an inspiration to many people.”
Avril’s most recent album was her self-titled 2013 disc, which featured the singles “Here’s to Never Growing Up” and a duet with her then-husband, Chad Kroeger, “Let Me Go.”
