Brendan ForbesFifth Harmony recently announced that they were going on hiatus so all four members could pursue solo projects.  Now one of them has just taken a big step in that direction.

Normani Kordei, who is now just going by “Normani,” has signed a solo record deal.  In fact, she’s the first artist signed to a new label called Keep Cool, a division of RCA Records. She’s currently working on her debut album.  Last month, she released a duet with Khalid, “Love Lies.”

In a statement, Normani says, “I’m so incredibly grateful to be able to be in a place where I can explore myself as an artist and what I’m capable of. Never in a million years did I think I would be in this position in 2018. Everyone has been so supportive and patient, thank you so much to my fans for giving me the opportunity.”

She adds, “I’m so thankful to my girls that we created this space among ourselves to explore and branch out creatively.  Fifth Harmony has always been and will always be home.”

Peter Edge, the Chairman and CEO of RCA records, says in a statement, “Normani’s talent and charisma really sets her apart as a leading lady in the industry and I know she will bring that same energy and more to her solo career.”

No word on when we’ll get more music from Normani.
