Greg WilliamsEd Sheeran, currently on tour in Ireland, is upset that one of his songs has been co-opted against his wishes by supporters on one side of a hot-button political issue.

On his Instagram Story, Ed posted a statement reading, “I’ve been informed that my song ‘Small Bump’ is being used to promote the Pro-Life campaign, and I feel it’s important to let you know I have not given approval for this use, and it does not reflect what the song is about.”

Small Bump,” which appears on Ed’s debut album, Plus, was written about a close friend of his whose baby was stillborn.  It features the lyrics, “‘Cause you were just a small bump unborn for four months then torn from life/Maybe you were needed up there but we’re still unaware as why.”

Ireland is currently preparing for a nationwide vote that will decide the legality of abortion in the country.
