Christina Aguilera gushes over Carol Burnett’s Golden Globes speech: “[It] brought me to tears”

ABC/ Pawel KaminskiLast night at the Golden Globes, after Carol Burnett accepted the lifetime achievement award named in her honor, Christina Aguilera was compelled to write her own tribute to the TV legend on social media.

“Ok so I’m a huuuuuuge carol burnett fan & her speech & tribute tonight brought me to tears,” Christina wrote on Instagram.

She added, “you can’t compare to the gift of laughter and joy it eternally brings….and especially her rare effortless greatness that shines so brightly.”

Christina called Burnett’s acceptance speech “moving” and “genuine” and recalled her fond memories watching The Carol Burnett Show as a child with her late grandmother.

“I continue to watch with my mom & sister…and now daughter/ son….thank you carol and all who made the magic possible…for mine and many generations to come,” she concluded.

The 85-year-old Burnett received the first-ever Carol Burnett Award for Television Achievement at the ceremony — the equivalent of its film counterpart, the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

In other Christina news, this week – January 11 to be exact – marks 16 years since her song “Beautiful” began its four-week reign atop the Billboard Pop Songs chart.
