ABC/John FleenorCarly Rae Jepsen’s last album was an ‘80s throwback, but with her next album, she’s throwing it back even further.

The singer, who’s been recording her next release in Sweden, tells Entertainment Weekly that she’ll be channeling 1970s disco vibes on the project.

“I would say more Donna Summer than the Bee Gees,” she says. “That would be the disco inspiration that’s leading the pack at the moment.”

But she’s also stepped out of her comfort zone with a hip-hop collaboration. The singer has teamed up with rapper Lil Yachty for a remake of the 1988 hit “It Takes Two” — even writing her first-ever rap verse for the song. Well, rap-ish.

“I’m not calling it a rap!” she says. “In no way am I claiming this is a rap. I was going for more of a rhythmic girlie moment in the number. It was just a funny little verse that fit the song.”

Carly and Lil Yachty are starring in a Target-sponsored video for the tune, which will air during the Grammys telecast on February 12. The song will be released on Friday.
