The pick-up had the Bronx-born rapper talking about her rise to fame, her inability to drive a car, and of course, some performances of her hits including “Bodak Yellow.”

Decked out in a yellow suit and transparent top, Cardi admitted getting her shot wasn’t easy. “At first people didn’t wanna play music on the damn radio,” she vented. “A lot of these deejays was sleeping on me, you know what I’m saying? So I had to keep on making music until I find the right one that’s gonna make them catch the eyes on me.”

“Because you know I’m funny…I’m saying some people just think everything is a joke and it’s like ‘hee-hee-hee-hee.’ Yeah, but I’m not laughing today. I want you to take this serious. But they wasn’t. They were frontin’ on the kid, yerrr?”

Cardi also explained she finds driving scary, but that doesn’t stop her from owning some of the finest cars in the world, which she says are mostly for her to pose in. Corden gave her a driving lesson that didn’t go well at all, until he got back behind the wheel and tried to expose a new audience to her music: an exercise class at a Los Angeles senior center.

There, the pair performed “I Like It Like That” for an elderly crowd that was particularly enthusiastic — especially an older man named Gunter who asked the newly single star if she’s looking “for a significant other.”

“Sure!” Cardi said, to laughs.
