Bebe Rexha’s ready for Lollapalooza: More hits, fewer B-sides

Bebe Rexha plays Lollapalooza in Chicago’s Grant Park Friday as part of a lineup that also includes Bruno Mars, Walk the Moon, James Bay, Post Malone and Lauv.  Bebe says putting together a set list for an event where fans aren’t there just to see her is simple: Stick to the hits.

“When you play a festival, it’s harder because when you do your own show, you can play all, like, the B-sides and all the C-sides,” Bebe laughs. “But when you do a festival, you gotta make sure you incorporate the songs that have been most successful…popularity-wise.”

So for Bebe, that means playing her hit collabos, like “Me, Myself & I,” “In the Name of Love,” “Hey Mama,” “Take Me Home” and, of course, “Meant to Be.”

“Then you kinda sprinkle in the stuff that you really love, and sometimes I like to do a cover,” Bebe adds. “But it’s about really like playing to that [festival] audience.”

So when will we get a headline tour from Bebe in support of her debut album, Expectations, so we can hear all those B and C-sides?

“Hopefully in the new year, I’ll tour with this album,” she tells ABC Radio. “But I don’t have anything planned just yet.”

In fact, Friday’s appearance at Lollapalooza is one of only two shows left on Bebe’s calendar for 2018 at the moment. The other is an appearance at the Kaaboo Del Mar Festival in Del Mar, CA on September 15, as part of an eclectic bill that includes Imagine Dragons, Melissa Etheridge, N.E.R.D., ’80s new wave icon Billy Idol, grunge veterans Stone Temple Pilots and more.
