Evans Vestal Ward/E! EntertainmentIt’s been 10 years since Ashlee Simpson released her last album and she’s finally ready to put out new music — this time with husband Evan Ross by her side.

The two will debut their new E! reality show, Ashlee + Evan, this Sunday, which documents the making of their upcoming duets album. Their first single, a soft love song called “I Do,” is out today.

“For me it’s been a minute since I’ve been out with music and I’ve really missed it,” Ashlee tells ABC Radio.

She continues, referring to her now-hubby Evan, “It’s something when we first started dating we always were doing music so we knew there would be a time and a place where we would be like, ‘OK, let’s do this, let’s make this album together.’ And then we started documenting it and then, here we are!”

Ashlee’s no stranger to the world of reality TV. She documented the making of her first album, Autobiography, with The Ashlee Simpson Show on MTV back in 2004. And of course, she learned the perils of live TV from her SNL lip-syncing fail that year as well.

But Ashlee and Evan agree that it felt like “the right time” to open up their lives and share new music with the world. And yes, they have gotten input on their music from Evan’s music legend mom, Diana Ross.

“I mean, I talk about it in the show, I’m like, I get nervous playing music for my mom, like, you know? Of course I want your mom to like it too!” Ashlee laughs.

“I love playing stuff for Mama, she’s been so supportive that it’s been great,” Evan adds.
