That title would come in recognition of the One Love Manchester charity concert she organized that raised millions for victims of the bomb attack that killed 22 after her concert in that city last month.

According to the BBC, the Manchester city council has proposed granting honorary citizenship as a new way to recognize outstanding contributions to the city, and Ariana will be first in line to receive it.

City officials say many would already consider Ariana to be an “honorary Mancunian,” due to her efforts to aid the bombing victims and their families.

As Council leader Sir Richard Leese told the BBC, “We’ve all had cause to be incredibly proud of Manchester and the resilient and compassionate way in which the city, and all those associated with it, have responded to the terrible events of 22 May – with love and courage rather than hatred and fear.”

He added that Ariana “exemplified this response.”

Honorary citizenship, or the “Freedom of the City,” is the highest honor that Manchester can give, and has only been awarded four times this century.

The proposal to honor Ariana and other non-residents goes before the council July 12.
