On Monday, after Halsey‘s song “Without You” replaced Ariana Grande‘s “thank u, next” at #1, Ariana praised Halsey on her Instagram Story by posting a photo of an article announcing Halsey’s milestone.  She captioned it, “F**k it up, @IAmHalsey.  To girls on top all 2019.”

Halsey responded by re-posting Ari’s post on her own Instagram Story, and writing, “Luv u bb. Dynamic women who are headstrong + compassionate all 2019.”

“Without You” was Halsey’s first #1 as a solo artist, and “thank u, next” was Ariana’s first #1 as a solo artist as well.

As for “girls on top all 2019,” that remains to be seen, but 2018 did end with some girl power on the Hot 100.

As previously reported, last week, Ariana was #1, Halsey was #2 and Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was #3, marking the first time women had dominated the entire top three since 2014.  And according to Nielsen Music, female artists spent 18 weeks at #1 last  year, up from eight weeks in 2017.
