John Shearer/Getty Images via ABCDJ Khaled’s got the keys to the kingdom… the TRL kingdom that is. The “Wild Thoughts” producer has officially been named as “The Godfather” of MTV’s revamped series.
Khaled’s duties on the rebooted show, which originally aired on MTV from 1998 to 2008, will include raising the Times Square ball in New York’s Times Square with Ed Sheeran on the first episode of the series’ return next week, and making “special appearances throughout the year,” according to MTV.
TRL‘s first week back on TV screens will also feature a slew of guest appearances from artists like Migos, Demi Lovato, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, Travis Scott and Noah Cyrus.
The first episode of the new TRL airs today at 3:30 p.m. ET.
