Neal Preston/Warner Bros. It’s three for three for A Star Is Born.  The soundtrack to the box office hit, starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, tops the Billboard 200 album chart for a third consecutive week.

A Star Is Born sold 109,000 equivalent album units in the week ending October 25, according to Billboard, 61,000 of which were traditional album sales.  That represents an overall sales drop of 24% for the former and 30% for the latter but makes the three-week #1 run no less impressive.

Also impressive is the fact A Star Is Born is the first soundtrack to spend its initial three weeks atop the Billboard 200 since High School Musical 2 topped that chart for four weeks back in 2007, and that was for a TV show.  You’ve got to go even farther back to find the last theatrical soundtrack to do it: 2003’s Bad Boys II held the #1 album spot for four weeks, Billboard reports.

More personally, A Star Is Born represents Lady Gaga’s longest-running #1 album since 2011’s Born This Way topped the Billboard 200 for two weeks.

A Star Is Born has held the #2 spot at the box office since its debut three weeks ago.  It earned an additional $14.1 million last weekend for an overall domestic gross to date of $149 million, $253 million globally.

Just last Thursday, the music video for Gaga’s emotional A Star Is Born ballad, “I’ll Never Love Again,” was released.  As of Monday morning it had earned over 7.7 million views on YouTube alone.
