Vanessa KonnLauren Jauregui‘s solo career has officially begun.

The Fifth Harmony singer has released a new video and single, “Expectations,” which she wrote.  It’s now available for download.  The soulful track has Lauren singing about a lover who continually disappoints her: “Wish I had no expectations/I wish that I could get it through your head/With no confrontation/I really wish we could talk about it instead.”

The moody black-and-white video shows Lauren in a white dress, wandering through a house and staring into a mirror.  Then, we see her watching herself, wearing a sexy black leather outfit and spike heels, dancing suggestively.  At the end of the clip, the sexy Lauren cuts the throat of the white-dress Lauren; we see the blood spatter over the mirror.

Speaking about the song’s release, Lauren says in a statement, “Everything feels so surreal. I’m so grateful to have been able to be so immersed in this creative process and give the world a piece of my heart. I’m excited to see its reception and continue to grow and create and share with you all.”

She adds, “I appreciate anyone who is listening, whether you’re someone who’s followed my journey or are just joining the ride – thank you for choosing to share in my energy! I hope you love it.”

Lauren debuted “Expectations” when she toured with Halsey this past summer.  She plans to keep on releasing new music through the end of the year and into 2019.
