Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagicSimon Cowell has assembled some of Britian’s biggest musical acts for a “We Are the World” inspired charity song to help the victims of last week’s Grenfell Tower fire in London, he tells London’s The Sun.

The America’s Got Talent judge has gathered a list of artists that includes The Who‘s Roger Daltrey and One Direction‘s Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, as well as James BluntLily Allen, Leona Lewis and Emeli Sandé, to record the 1970 Simon & Garfunkel classic, “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

Rita Ora, who grew up in the neighborhood near Grenfell Tower, also will be lending her voice to the project, along with local residents, many of whom lost homes in the blaze.

Cowell, who began recording on Saturday, is shooting for a Wednesday release, and he hopes to have locked down even more stars by then, telling the newspaper, “Until that last note has been finished, we will not be off the phone.”

The fire, which is still under investigation, has claimed the lives of 30 people, with dozens more still missing.
