Island RecordsShawn Mendes’ recently-wrapped European tour probably didn’t leave him a lot of time for sightseeing in the company of a beautiful woman, so he staged that scenario for his new video, “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back.”
The clip finds Shawn and his love interest, played by actress Ellie Bamber, frolicking, driving, hiking, dancing, and smooching their way through Paris, Amsterdam and the British countryside.
“I really wanted to make a video for this song that represents the spirit of adventure. It felt like there was no better place for that than to shoot throughout different beautiful cities and landscapes in Europe,” Shawn says in a statement. “The song is about following someone that you love to the world’s end, and making decisions you wouldn’t ever have thought you would, because of someone you’re just that enamored with.”
He adds, “We wanted to put a story together that shows this relationship between a guy and a girl and their travels together, in the purest way possible.”
Shawn starts the North American leg of his Illuminate tour in Portland, OR on July 6. It’s mapped out through an August 23 show in Boston.
