Pop and rap stars mourn Mac Miller: “Pittsburgh we lost a real one today”

G L AskewFollowing the news that Mac Miller has reportedly died of a suspected overdose at age 26, rap and pop stars took to social media to express their sadness over his passing.

A devastated Post Malone tweeted, “God f**king dammit. You were such an incredible person. You changed so many lives. Had so much love in your heart. You inspired me throughout highschool, and I wouldn’t be where I was today without you. Never a more kind and sincere and beautiful person. I f**ing love you mac.”

Missy Elliott wrote, “I’m so saddened to hear about @MacMiller such a kind spirit Sending prayers for strength for his family & friends & fans during this difficult time.”

“Unreal. So Sad. RIP Mac Miller,” tweeted Shawn Mendes.

Logic tweeted, “Mac I Love You! You were a huge inspiration on my come up. Thank you for the countless hours of fun listening to your music with my homies! This has me so f**ked up! You will be missed and always remembered.”

Machine Gun Kelly wrote, “Mac.  this just f**ked us all up. u were too rare…damn. from eating frozen chicken wings in my basement to ur voice speaking to a generation. u did it homie. wish this wasn’t even a conversation.”

On Instagram, Lil Yachty posted a photo of himself FaceTiming Mac, and wrote, “Rest In Peace Big Mac. Amazing Energy. solid & positive. So many things we was pose to do… one day we still will brother….Live on brother !!!!!!!

A distraught Charlie Puth wrote, “I can’t keep losing friends like this…I wish I spent more time with you these past weeks…I’m so sorry… rip MAC…you wrote the soundtrack to my college years and I’m so happy I got to know you…this sucks this really really sucks.”

J. Cole wrote, “Rest In Peace to the great soul Mac Miller.”

On Instagram, Ed Sheeran posted a photo of himself and Mac and wrote, “This just really saddened me. I hung out with Mac a few times over the years and he was always such a sweetheart, always had the time of day for anyone, whoever they were. As well as being a great talent, he was a great human. Love and prayers to his family and friends. I don’t know what else to say. It’s so heartbreaking.

Snoop Dogg posted a clip of he and Mac together in the Scary Movie 5, and wrote, “So sad u gone home young Mac I had to post this to smile and think about the good Time we had on the set of this movie man god bless ya family. Pittsburg we lost a real one today.”

Questlove tweeted, “Mac was one of the nicest, coolest dudes man. This is sad man.”

The Chainsmokers wrote, “Never had the chance to meet Mac Miller but was a huge fan of his music. Our prayers go out to his family and friends. And for those struggling with addiction or know someone who is, please seek help you are not alone these things don’t just get better.”

Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds wrote, “so devastated. RIP @MacMiller just heartbroken. what a talent and incredible human being.”

John Mayer wrote on Instagram,I’m so sad that you couldn’t stay, Mac. I’m so terribly sad.

OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder tweeted, “#RIPMacMiller you were a super nice, funny and warm dude and I really enjoyed the time we got to hang together in the studio… Pittsburgh for life man, you will be missed.”
