ABC/Randy HolmesLogic has released an emotional video for his song “1-800-273-8255,” featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid.
The clip plays out like a short film, and includes appearances by Don Cheadle, Matthew Modine and Luis Guzman. The story centers around a gay black teen trying to come to terms with his sexuality.
Throughout the course of the video, he deals with his family’s reaction to his sexual orientation, bullying at school and suicidal feelings.
Ultimately, he dials a suicide hotline for help and gets a second chance at life. The song’s title, “1-800-273-8255,” is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number.
