Greg WilliamsEd Sheeran wants to make one thing clear: your hate about his Game of Thrones cameo didn’t lead him to delete his Twitter.

Ed appeared on Game of Thrones on Sunday night, and many Twitter users voiced their displeasure at seeing him on the show. The next day, he deleted his Twitter account, leading many to link the two. But as Ed now says, the two events were unrelated.

In an Instagram post, the singer explains, “Last i’ll say on this. I came off Twitter Coz I was always intending to come off Twitter, had nothing to do with what people said about my game of thrones cameo, because I am in game of thrones, why the hell would I worry what people thought about that. It’s clearly f***in’ awesome.”

“Timing was just a coincidence, but believe what you want,” he concludes.

Ed’s Twitter account has now been restored, but a message on his profile reads, “I don’t use this anymore, please follow me on on instagram, lots of love x.”

The singer had previously explained that he doesn’t like reading Twitter because of all the negative comments he gets from people who seem to dislike him for no reason.
