ABC/Image Group LAOn the coldest night of the fall in New York City so far, Cardi B brought warmth to the Marlboro Houses in the Gravesend community in Brooklyn, NY

The “I Like It” rapper gave out free coats and shoes to hundreds of parents and children Thursday night. They received tickets and lined up hours in advance, chanting “Where is Cardi B?” When she arrived, the crowd cheered, screaming her name.

“I didn’t know it was going to so big and everything,” Cardi told New York ABC affiliate WABC-TV. My homeboy, Chuck, he told me, ‘Hey, let’s give out coats to our community. I know somebody that wants to give out coasts to my community in Marlboro.’ And I said, ‘I’m pulling out. What’s up?'”

The three-time American Music Awards winner, who was born in New York City’s borough of The Bronx, was overwhelmed with love from the crowd. She was excited to return to the neighborhood where she shot videos for two songs last year: “Red Barz” and “Pull Up On Me.”

Cardi posed an Instagram video of herself in the crowd. She commented, “IT WAS LIT IN MARLBORO TODAY! @astonmartinchuck hit me up a couple of days ago about a coat giveaway. we couldn’t believe how big this was and how many people pulled up, i wasn’t ready! Thanks Marlboro!”

She added that she’d back at Marlboro “before the year end,” and added, “I can’t wait to do this in my borough next BX.”
