Your heart may grow three sizes, because a sequel to How the Grinch Stole Christmas is in the works.

Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment are developing a live-action sequel to the 2000 holiday blockbuster film, ABC Audio has confirmed.

Jim Carrey is in talks to reprise his role as The Grinch in the new movie. Ron Howard, who directed the original film, is set to return at the helm.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas and this new, currently untitled film are, of course, based on the beloved book by Dr. Seuss. Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel are writing the new film’s screenplay. The trio also wrote the 2003 live-action adaptation of The Cat in the Hat, which starred Mike Myers.

Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas opened in theaters on Nov. 18, 2000, and earned over $345 million at the worldwide box office. It was the highest-grossing domestic release that year and won the Academy Award for best makeup.

The night the New York Knicks won the NBA Championship, Alicia Keys was onstage at the afterparty for the premiere of her new documentary and performed “Empire State of Mind” onstage. She gave an encore performance Thursday afternoon in New York City, at the end of the Knicks’ victory parade in lower Manhattan.

“This is our time! This is our time! We are champi-ONS!” she yelled to the cheering crowd as she stood on the stage with Knicks players in front of City Hall.

“Me and my son Egypt, we thought that we would do it like this,” she continued. Egypt stood at the piano and  began to play Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind” as Alicia sang the first verse of that classic tune.

“I’m in a New York State of Mind,” she finished, then yelled, “Let’s gooooo! OK!” as the drum beat of “Empire State of Mind” started up. “We here right now! This is our time right now! We’ve been waiting over 50 years for this moment and we never gonna stop!”

Alicia then sat at the piano and completed the song, as the players danced and sang behind her, along with New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Jay-Z, who appeared on the original song, didn’t make an appearance.

“Congrats, New York City, I love you!” she said as she left the stage. On her Instagram Story, she posted video of herself hanging out backstage with Knicks Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges.

Olivia Rodrigo has already chosen her wedding song

Olivia Rodrigo seems pretty certain about her wedding for a girl who isn’t engaged.

Olivia’s new album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, charts the course of a relationship from start to finish, but the fact that the relationship ended hasn’t robbed her of her faith in love. She already has a scenario for her dream proposal and a wedding song.

Speaking to the BBC, Olivia says she’d like to be proposed to in New York City’s Central Park. “I’d love it if someone paid for a placard on one of the benches that said, ‘Will you marry me?'” she laughs. “Then you’d sit down and you’re like, ‘Oh my God!'”

“So spread the word … hopefully my future husband will see this,” she adds.

As for her wedding song, she says it’s going to be “I Melt with You” by the U.K. band Modern English. The 1982 single was never a big hit on the Hot 100, but it was all over MTV back in the day and is now a part of pop culture.

“Imagine kissing and then walking back down the aisle to that? I love that song,” she tells the BBC.

In fact, there’s a song on her new album called “purple” in which she sings, “And I melt with you/ your red and my blue/ Now I see the world in purple, purple.”

Sabrina Carpenter gets 5-year restraining order against alleged stalker

A judge has granted Sabrina Carpenter a restraining order against a man who has repeatedly shown up at her home and who, in May, allegedly attempted to force his way in.

The order bars William Applegate, 31, from contacting the singer, her sister Sarah Carpenter and her sister’s significant other, George Smith, who both live with her, for five years. The order is set to expire June 17, 2031, according to documents obtained by ABC News.

According to the order, Applegate cannot “contact” Sabrina Carpenter, Sarah Carpenter or George Smith, and is prohibited from “disturbing their peace.” In addition, he must stay 100 yards away from them, their home, their workplace and their vehicles. If he doesn’t obey, he faces a possible fine of up to $1,000, a possible one-year jail sentence or both.

According to The Associated Press, Applegate appeared at the hearing on Wednesday in LA and said that he and Sabrina Carpenter were part of a classified military program that required them to “be together as soon as possible” for “national and global security.” He also stated that he’d be “more than willing” to stay away from Sabrina Carpenter if she told him herself. She was not present.

As previously reported, the “Espresso” artist, 27, filed a civil harassment restraining order on May 29 against Applegate. In her declaration, she alleged that he went to her Los Angeles home on May 23 “unannounced and uninvited” and “physically grabbed the lever of my front door and forcefully pushed it down, actively trying to force his way inside my home without any invitation, permission, or consent whatsoever.”

Detective Peter Doomanis, of the Los Angeles Police Department, wrote that Sabrina Carpenter was “in genuine fear for her personal safety” at the time of the incident. Applegate was released after his May 23 arrest, and returned to Sabrina Carpenter’s home on May 24 and May 25, according to the singer’s private security guards in court docs.

Hasan Brown, a private security guard for Sabrina Carpenter, wrote in a separate declaration that he had noticed Applegate’s vehicle parked in the vicinity of her home on multiple prior occasions beginning sometime after April 19 through at least May 25, “with the vehicle progressively parking in closer proximity” to the singer’s residence over time.

Backstreet Boys’ Howie Dorough is ‘reimagining’ his songs for new Spanish-language project

Howie Dorough (Abez Media)

Backstreet Boys’ Howie Dorough just released his first Spanish-language single, “Coqui,” and it’s part of a larger project that’s coming in the future.

According to a press release, Howie’s upcoming release will feature new, original music, as well as “reimagined” Spanish versions of select songs from throughout his career. He was inspired to do this by the fans who’ve told him that they learned English by listening to the Backstreet Boys.

Howie, whose mother is from Puerto Rico, says in a statement, “Growing up, Puerto Rican music, traditions, and family were always a huge part of my life. As I’ve gotten older and become a father myself, I’ve felt an even stronger desire to connect with that heritage and share it with my children. This project has allowed me to reconnect with that side of myself in a really meaningful way.”

“Coqui” is named after Puerto Rico’s famous tree frog, and Howie shot the video in San Juan.

Howie, who didn’t grow up speaking Spanish fluently, has been working hard to improve his skills with the language. As for why he’s chosen this moment to put out a Spanish project, he told Billboard, “Latin music is so big right now, and people are willing to hear music that’s not in their own language.”

“I don’t have major expectations,” he notes, “this is a passion for me, it’s more of a journey. It’s a story that hopefully people will get to know, of a kid who once wanted to embrace his culture, his roots, and because of society and insecurities over the years, I’ve held myself back, but now is the time.”

Ben Stiller confirms upcoming Knicks documentary with A24

Ben Stiller is working on a documentary about the New York Knicks.

The actor opened up about what he called a “dream project” in a new interview.

“Couldn’t be more excited to make this doc with @A24 and @HBO about the NY KNICKS!!!!!! #LETSGOKNICKS,” the actor and director wrote in an X post Wednesday.

The Knicks’ hometown held a ticker-tape parade on Thursday to celebrate their first NBA championship since 1973 last weekend.

Stiller, a Knicks fan, has been seen recording video footage with an iPhone courtside at recent games and throughout the last season.

He discussed the project with Knicks captain and MVP Jalen Brunson, Knicks guard Josh Hart and their co-host Matt Hillman on the latest Roommates Show podcast.

“We are officially making a documentary about the New York Knicks for HBO, and doing it with A24, and full cooperation of [Madison Square Garden] and NBA,” Stiller said.

“Obviously, I’ve been shooting some stuff on my phone but it’s kind of gonna be about all eras of the Knicks and this team, obviously, you know, there’s a culmination here of something that has been going on for a long time,” Stiller continued. “It’s super exciting.”

Stiller said he plans on filming more footage, including interviews with Knicks players, in the next Knicks season as well.

“There’s so many great eras. And this team, I think, you know, when you look at the ’70s championships, the ’90s runs and then this team doing it again, I think there’s just so much within that,” said Stiller, adding that he wants to make a doc “for the fans.”

A24 also confirmed to ABC News Wednesday that a “landmark” documentary about the Knicks and their legacy is in progress and the “multi-part series” will cover the NBA team’s culture and history.

“The series will trace the full arc of the franchise from the 90s to the improbable, record-breaking run that finally returned a championship to New York. The series is expected to offer unprecedented NBA access, never-before-seen footage, and a definitive look at one of basketball’s most iconic stories,” said the production company.

Outer Banks is starting up on its final adventure.

Netflix has shared the official teaser trailer for the drama series’ fifth and final season. It has also announced that the season will make its debut on Aug. 20.

This new season finds the Pogues “at their absolute breaking point following the tragic loss of JJ in Morocco. Stranded far from home and mourning the heart of their crew, they’ve lost the Blue Crown and continue to face a gauntlet of familiar threats,” according to its official description. “With Chandler Groff still at large, Dalia and the Corsairs closing in, and the Kooks ensuring the Pogues have no home to return to, John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, and Cleo must rely on their scrappy instincts—and an uneasy alliance with Rafe—to keep from falling apart for good.”

This new mission is now a race to “reclaim their future and finally win the freedom they’ve been chasing since the beginning,” the description continues. “It’s the Pogues against the world as they seek to avenge their best friend and bring it on home…one final time.”

The teaser trailer finds the crew reeling after the death of their friend JJ.

“I saw what he did to JJ. And he knows I’m not letting it go,” Bailey’s Kiara says, before Cline’s Sarah Cameron says, “If you’re on the bottom, you have to risk everything.”

Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke are the creators of Outer Banks. Season 5 consists of 10 hourlong episodes.
