Ryan Reynolds wished his friend Hugh Jackman a happy 56th birthday in a sweet way on social media.

Jackman’s friend and Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Reynolds took to Instagram on Saturday to share a wide-spanning collection of photos and pen a note to Jackman.

“I hope we get to do this til we’re 90. Happy Birthday, @thehughjackman,” Reynolds wrote. “A lot of years. A lot of adventures.”

Reynolds overlaid the slideshow of photos with “A Million Dreams,” a song Jackman sang along with Ziv Zaifman and Michelle Williams in his hit musical movie The Greatest Showman.

Reynolds also posted a tribute to Jackman on his Instagram Story, sharing a smiling photo of his friend. He quoted Indiana Jones in the post, writing “‘It’s not the years, honey. It’s the mileage,'” along with another birthday greeting: “Happy Birthday to the one and only, Greatest Showman.”

The post included pictures of Jackman and Reynolds smiling together and photos of the pair in their Deadpool & Wolverine outfits in the film.

Jackman posted his own message on Instagram on Sunday, thanking friends and followers for the birthday wishes. “Thank you all for the incredible birthday love! I am grateful. #thisis56,” Jackman wrote.

The pair teamed up last week to announce Jackman’s new show, From New York, With Love, where he will play 12 performances at Radio City Music Hall.

Netflix has canceled Unstable, the comedy series starring Rob Lowe and his son John Owen Lowe, after two seasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show’s second season failed to make it into Netflix’s top 10 …

A sequel to the horror film Ready or Not is in the works starring Samara Weaving in the lead role, according to Variety. The first movie, released in 2019, starred Weaving, along with Adam Brody and Andie MacDowell, and centered on a bride whose wedding night takes a sinister turn when her eccentric new in-laws force her to take part in a terrifying game …

The Wild Robot filmmaker Chris Sanders tells Deadline that a sequel to the animated adventure is already in the works. Jordin Sparks on how Ryan Seacrest inspired her to host new reality competition series ‘Roller Jam’

David Jon for Magnolia Network/Max

Jordin Sparks is the host of Roller Jam, a new reality competition series on Max that pits roller-skating crews from across the country against each other for a chance to win $150,000 and a $10,000 donation to their local rink. As an American Idol champ and former Dancing with the Stars contestant, Jordin tells ABC Audio it’s great not be judged, for once.

“It is so much nicer to be on this side of the judging table,” Jordin says. However, her experience helped her to support the contestants.

“I can be down there on the floor with them and be like, ‘Look, I’ve been in your shoes … I know what it feels like,'” she says.

In fact, Jordin says watching Ryan Seacrest on Idol inspired her to become a host. “I was watching how he was reading the teleprompter and interacting with everybody, from the contestants to the judges to the people at home,” she says. “And I was like … ‘I’d love to do that one day.’ So it’s really crazy that now 17 years later, I’m finally getting the chance.”

Jordin says the show has inspired her to take up roller skating again, and she plans to get her son DJ, 6, a pair of skates so they can do it together. She says one of the great things about skating is that it’s “multigenerational” — and so is Roller Jam.

“Grandmas and grandkids can watch [it] together,” she notes.

The crews skate to different eras of music in each episode, so which was Jordin’s favorite?

“I prefer the 2000s, obviously, because it’s songs that I know and love. But when I think of skating … I think about the ’70s,” she says. But ultimately, “You know I’m going to turn on ‘I Want to Dance With Somebody’ by Whitney!”

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, grabbed fourth place, delivering an estimated $7 million, bringing its North American box office tally to $275 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed a total of $420 million.

As ‘SNL’ host, Ariana Grande sings, jokes, impersonates Céline Dion, Jennifer Coolidge

Will Heath/NBC

If Ariana Grande ever decides to give up singing and acting, she could always play Vegas as an impressionist. She showed off her incredible gift for mimicry on the Oct. 12 edition of Saturday Night Live, which she was hosting for the first time since 2016.

Ari kicked off the show with a monologue in which she swore to keep it “low-key,” and then busted out a song that was all about how she wasn’t going to do any number of things, which she, of course, did. One of them was doing vocal impressions, followed by her impersonating Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus and Gwen Stefani in rapid succession. “Either way, this much is clear/ If you’re looking for a diva, don’t look over here,” she sang, while striking a diva pose.

She then went on to appear in nearly every sketch. Some highlights:

Ari hilariously impersonates Céline Dion’s recent promo for Sunday Night Football, except this time, she’s singing about how great (and violent) the UFC is: “It’s all coming back to me, but maybe not to them, because of the concussions, no?”

She and Chloe Fineman do dueling, spot-on Jennifer Coolidge impressions in a fake commercial for Maybelline — which causes Ari to briefly break and start laughing.

Ari plays a highly competitive mom who verbally abuses her son’s boyfriend, played by Bowen Yang, as a way of testing whether or not he’s “strong” enough to be with her “weak” son. She and Yang, her Wicked co-star, share a kiss at the end.

In a short called My Best Friend’s House, Ari plays a young girl who sings about how she loves how her bestie’s house smells — only to learn that her best friend’s dad is a serial killer.

In Renaissance Italy, Ariana plays a young boy whose parents castrated him to preserve his super-high singing voice — a real thing that was done back then. This gives Ari the chance to sing “Twist and Shout” at the very top end of her register.

Ari and the female SNL castmembers sing an “Espresso” parody as bridesmaids detailing what they got up to at the bride’s bachelorette weekend.  Spoiler alert: The marriage is over.

New Music Friday: Charli XCX, Jelly Roll, The Kid LAROI and more

Charli XCX has finally dropped her remix album, Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat. One of the many guest stars working it out on the remix is Ariana Grande. On the remix of “Sympathy is a knife,” Ariana sings, “It’s a knife when you know they’re counting on your mistakes/ It’s a knife when you’re so pretty, they think it must be fake/ It’s a knife when they dissect your body on the front page/ It’s a knife when they won’t believe you, why should you explain? … It’s a knife when somebody says, ‘Ari, I think you’ve totally changed.'”

Jelly Roll has released his sophomore album, Beautifully Broken, as well as a deluxe edition with six extra tracks, called Beautifully Broken (Pickin’ Up The Pieces). Guests include Halsey, mgk, Wiz Khalifa and Keith Urban. The album features Jelly’s latest hits, “I Am Not Okay” and “Lonely Road.”

The Kid LAROI has dropped a new single called “Aperol Spritz,” which, if you’re not familiar, is a popular summer cocktail. There’s also a music video to go with it. We hope that when he sings, “There’s a whole lotta girls up in here but can’t nobody f*** with my b****,” he’s thinking of his girlfriend, Tate McRae.

BLACKPINK‘s JENNIE has released a new solo single and music video, “Mantra.” She says in a statement, “It’s the perfect song to begin my new era. I think ‘Mantra’ will make my fans happy but also show a new side of me as a solo artist … it’s energetic and empowering with a message for all of my ladies, women, and pretty girls out there to love yourself for who you are. This is your anthem.”

Tyla has released the deluxe edition of her self-titled debut album. It includes three new songs.

Ella Purnell on why ‘Sweetpea’ serial killer role “scared” her

Starz

Ella Purnell stars as Rhiannon Lewis in the new six-part Starz drama Sweetpea, about a young woman who transforms from meek wallflower to emboldened serial killer. Think Dexter meets female rage.

Purnell, who can also be seen in hit shows Yellowjackets and Fallout, says taking on this role in particular scared her because of its moral ambiguity.

“That was our goal with this series, was to conflict the audience, you know, make them relate to Rhiannon’s emotions and her motivations, but obviously not her actions,” she tells ABC Audio. “And that was just really interesting to me. I didn’t know if I could do it, and it really scared me.”

She was able to tap into Rhiannon’s rage — which manifests into some pretty intense kill scenes — by shaking off any inhibitions she may have had while filming.

“[I had to] not think about the cameras, not think about all my mates who are standing around on the set and just like let it out,” she says. “And it actually became quite therapeutic. And I think with all of those scenes, I didn’t practice them, I didn’t plan them, I didn’t really know what was going to come out and that was quite exciting.”

So what’s one pet peeve that would land someone on Purnell’s metaphorical “kill list”?

“One big one for me is … when people like constantly interrupt you,” she says. “We all have that one person who every time we speak, they decide to pipe up. And it’s only when we speak and they cut you off.”

Sweetpea debuted Thursday on Starz and will air new episodes every Friday.

Halsey Stardust: Singer dons drag for latest album countdown impersonation

Columbia Records

For the last few days, Halsey has been counting down to her new album, The Great Impersonator, by dressing up as various music icons, each of whom she credits with inspiring a different track on the album. After dressing like Dolly Parton, PJ Harvey, Kate Bush and Cher, Halsey donned drag for her Oct. 11 impersonation.

Halsey dressed like David Bowie, mimicking a photo shoot in which the late rock icon posed wearing a yellow suit, with red hair in a quasi-pompadour, a cigarette between his lips. Halsey copied every detail, right down to the fact that Bowie had two different colored eyes.

In her caption, Halsey noted that Bowie was one of the O.G. great impersonators of music, having created various personas throughout his storied career.

Ziggy Stardust, The Starman, The Thin White Duke, The Picasso of Pop, Major Tom, The Master of Reinvention and The Chameleon of Rock… DAVID BOWIE,” she wrote. She also said the song that Bowie inspired is called “Darwinism.”

And for any fans who are wondering who’s been in charge of creating the makeup that’s been transforming Halsey into all these icons, she wrote on X, “It’s me.”

Halsey teased in her Instagram Story that she’s “thinking about doing some events during album release week,” asking fans to sign up for her Text/What’s App group to be notified of said events before anyone else. The Great Impersonator is out Oct. 25.
