No, Ben Affleck Hasn’t Abandoned “The Batman”

2016 – Warner Bros.(LOS ANGELES) — Ben Affleck had fanboys in a tizzy when he told The Guardian that his stand-alone Batman movie was “not a set thing.” The actor and Oscar-winning director seemed to imply that if the script wasn’t right, he wouldn’t want to do it.

However, on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday night, Affleck, who’s currently promoting his drama Live By Night, put those fanboy fears to rest.

“I’m gonna direct the next Batman, we’re working on it,” Ben said to uproarious applause.

He added that the project, which has been tentatively titled The Batman, tends to blot out everything else, like the beam from the Bat-Signal.

“It’s one of those things that’s really frustrating because with Live By Night it took me a year and a half to write it and get it ready and I worked really hard. It’s just no one gave a s**t!” he laughed.

“No one was like, ‘WHERE’S LIVE BY NIGHT? But with Batman I keep getting the, “WHERE’S THE F**KING BATMAN?” I’m like, “Whoa, I’m working! Give me a second!”

Kimmel joked that Ben’s brother Casey might have written himself out as Robin, since he snubbed his big brother while accepting his Golden Globe for Manchester By the Sea. The slight led Ben to bust Casey’s chops by revealing embarrassing details about his brother’s past to Kimmel, including the fact that Casey  could be the first Oscar winner to ever ask someone “if Back to the Future was a true story.”

Live by Night hits theaters Friday. Ben’s next stint as the Caped Crusader, the team-up movie Justice League, opens next November.  He first donned the cape and cowl for 2016’s Batman vs. Superman.

B.J. Britt Wants His “Being Mary Jane” Character to “Stop Making Bad Decisions”

BET Networks/Annette Brown(NEW YORK) — B.J. Britt is ecstatic to once again play Paul “P.J.” Patterson, Jr., on the fourth season of BET’s Being Mary Jane and says he hopes this time around, his character will make better life decisions.

Britt, who is set to reprise his role as the younger, and often irresponsible, brother of Gabrielle Union’s character Mary Jane Paul, says playing P.J. has been a blessing — and somewhat of a surreal experience.

“Just like on the show, we’re so close as a family,” Britt tells ABC Radio. “My friends tell me all the time, ‘Why is BET paying you to play yourself, like seriously?’ It’s just certain roles where you just feel like, ‘Wow, how did I even get this?’ And that’s one of those roles.”

Like a brother in real life, Britt, who recently starred as the bachelor on Lifetime’s UnReal, says he’s down to help Mary Jane find “a good man,” but not quite willing to jeopardize their relationship when it comes to money.

“But at the same time I still do need her pocketbook… So you know what? I’m going to let Mary Jane do her thing,” he says.

Instead, the actor is focused on the evolution of his character –who often needs to be bailed out from his get-rich money schemes. “I mean there’s a lot going on with my character…And P.J. just continues to grow as a human being and stop making some of the bad decisions that he’s making in order to make a couple of dollars.”

Being Mary Jane airs tonight at 10 p.m. on BET.

Kim Kardashian West’s Limo Driver Reportedly Arrested in Connection with Paris Robbery

E!/Timothy White(PARIS) — French police are reportedly looking into the possibility that Kim Kardashian West’s Paris robbery was an inside job.

The French newspaper Le Monde first reported and Us Weekly has confirmed a report claiming that one of the 17 suspects arrested in connection with the October 3, 2016 robbery works for the limo company that the Kardashian-Jenner family regularly used during their trips to the French capital.

According to Le Monde, the chauffeur was the last person to drive Kardashian West before the robbery, during which she was bound and held at gunpoint by five masked assailants who made off with an estimated $10 million worth of jewelry, including her new diamond ring from husband Kanye West. Police are reportedly trying to determine whether the driver passed information to the thieves.

The five men who entered the reality star’s private residence are among the 17 people arrested on Monday. DNA discovered on a piece of duct tape used to restrain the Keeping Up with the Kardashiansstar reportedly helped identify one of the five.

Three women and a 72-year-old man are also believed to be involved in organizing the heist. Two of the people in police custody were allegedly seen in Antwerp, Belgium, where police think the stolen gems were taken, according to Le Monde.

All 17 people will be held for up to 96 hours before being charged or released. A source tells Us that the suspects’ homes are still being searched and evidence is being seized. Prior to the arrests, there was “months of surveillance,” adds the source.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Agree to Handle Divorce Privately

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) — Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have agreed to handle their divorce privately, the couple said in a joint statement obtained Monday by ABC News.

“The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues,” the statement reads. “The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification.”

Pitt, 53, and 41-year-old Jolie were together for more than a decade and married for two years before Jolie filed for divorce last September. They have six children: Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Last month, a judge denied a request by Pitt to seal documents in his custody battle with Jolie. Pitt said in court documents that he was “extremely concerned” that if the records weren’t sealed, his children’s privacy rights would be irreparably damaged. Jolie’s attorneys countered that Pitt’s request was a “thinly-veiled attempt to shield himself, rather than the minor children, from the public view.”

Pitt was warmly received when he made a surprise appearance onstage at Sunday night’s Golden Globe awards.  He introduced a clip from the film Moonlight, which went on to win Best Motion Picture, Drama.

“The Bachelor” Recap: Two Roses, A Villain and a Ticket Home

Nick with Corrine; ABC/Rick Rowell(NEW YORK) — On Monday night’s episode of The Bachelor, two favorites seemed to emerge, as Nick Viall handed out two roses — and sent one bachelorette home, one who at first appeared to possibly have an edge.

In the first group date, the ladies posed for themed wedding pictures with Nick, with the photographer picking a winner who’d enjoy a mystery prize. Corinne, who’d earlier shared a kiss with Nick, was excited to explore her beach-themed wedding, wearing a skimpy bikini top. That all changed however, when she discovered Brittany was poised to upstage her with an Adam & Eve photo shoot, which involved wearing bikini bottoms and going topless.

After Nick and Brittany emerged wearing only skivvies made out of leaves, Corinne knew she had to up the ante. When it came her turn, she achieved just that, dragging Nick into the pool and removing not only his top, but hers as well, and guiding him through a photo shoot reminiscent of Janet Jackson’s famous Rolling Stone cover.

Corinne’s strategy may have ultimately worked with Nick, but it backfired with the other women. She won both a rose and the photography challenge, and was awarded an extra opportunity to ride off into the sunset with Nick and a “Just Married” sign. Meanwhile, the other girls seethed over her constant interruptions as they tried to have their time with the potential Mr. Right.

Nick chose Danielle M., with whom he shares the same hometown, for his first one-on-one date. A helicopter ride led to a yacht in Newport Beach, which segued into an intimate dinner. Danielle opened up about her past, confessing she’d been engaged to a fiancée she’d ultimately found dead of an overdose. The dramatic story led to an emotional moment with Nick — and a rose for Danielle.

Meanwhile back at the mansion, Liz couldn’t keep the secret that she’d slept with Nick earlier at the wedding of a friend, and confided in Christen.

For the final group date, Nick took his potential love interests to the Museum of Broken Relationships, where the engagement ring he’d earlier picked out for Katelyn Bristowe on The Bachelorette is on display. While most of the girls used a break-up exercise to have fun and laugh with Nick, Liz seemed intent on using hers to address the fact that they’d slept together — but it ultimately backfired.

Nick grew increasingly uncomfortable with Liz, and wondered about her motivations. He seemed to give her the benefit of the doubt, until Christen revealed she knew Liz’s secret. Deciding to cut his losses, Nick sent Liz home, and confessed to the other girls that he’d had sex with Liz at a wedding.

Nick deals with the fallout from his revelation next Monday, when The Bachelor returns on ABC.

White House Defends Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes Speech as “Thoughtful” and “Carefully Considered”

NBC/Paul Drinkwater(WASHINGTON D.C.) — While President-elect Donald Trump took issue with Meryl Streep’s criticism of him in her Golden Globes speech, the White House is now defending the actress’ comments.

“She clearly was delivering a thoughtful, carefully considered message that she believes in deeply,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in Monday’s press briefing. “And it seemed to me to be a fairly straightforward exercise of her First Amendment rights as a citizen of the United States.”

During her speech, Streep singled out “one performance this year that stunned me…it sank its hook in my heart not because it was good…but it was effective, and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh and show their teeth.”  She was referring to then-candidate Donald Trump’s imitation of a disabled reporter, though she didn’t say Trump’s name.

She then went on to say that when powerful people humiliate others, “It filters down into everybody’s life because it kind of gives permission for other people to do the same thing. Disrespect invites disrespect.  Violence incites violence.”

When a reporter followed up to note that President Obama has been measured and cautious in his criticisms of the president-elect since the election, Earnest pointed out that the president, unlike Streep, has a specific set of institutional responsibilities in ensuring a smooth transition.

“I’m not aware that the United States Constitution includes any institutional responsibilities for the lifetime award winner of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,” he said.

Earnest said he has not spoken to the president about his views on Streep’s speech.

Trump tweeted, “Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn’t know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes. She is a Hillary flunky who lost big.” He also denied mocking the reporter and added, “Just more very dishonest media!”

Michael Keaton and Jenna Bush Hager Apologize for “Hidden Fences” Flub

Paul Drinkwater/NBC(LOS ANGELES) — Michael Keaton and Jenna Bush Hager are apologizing for their Golden Globes static after they accidentally called the movie Hidden Figures, “Hidden Fences.”

Bush Hager made the error during the pre-show, while Oscar winner Keaton did it during the telecast.

Bush Hager, who was covering her first red carpet for NBC, issued an apology on Monday’s Today Show, taking responsibility for her mistake.

“I had an error in the night, which I have to apologize for,” said Bush Hager, whose mistake went viral after a clip surfaced. “When I was interviewing the incomparable Pharrell, who I adore, I accidentally — in the electricity of the red carpet, which I’ve never done…before — called Hidden Figures ‘Hidden Fences.’ I have seen both movies, thought they were both brilliant. I’ve interviewed casts for both of the movies and if I offended people I am deeply sorry.”

Michael Keaton, who also made the same notable error, spoke to TMZ about the incident and apologized, but didn’t seem to be affected by the social media stir.

“I’m sorry, I apologize, I screwed it up,” Keaton told the TMZ cameraman who then said that the mistake had now gone viral.

Keaton then took a moment and responded dramatically, “I’m a horrible person, I’m a horrible person,” adding snarkily, “But I’m going to sleep pretty well.”
