Why Don’t We describe being on lockdown in Las Vegas during the shooting

Atlantic RecordsMany celebrities took to social media to express horror at the mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday, but the guys in Why Don’t We lived through it.  That night, they were at the Blue Man Group show at the Luxor Hotel, right across the street from the country music festival the shooter fired on.

“They turned on the lights and they’re like, ‘OK, we’re on lockdown right now, everybody stay calm,'” recalls Zach Herron. “Then one of our managers actually sent us a text and said, ‘Yo guys, watch out, there’s a shooter on the loose.'”

“The craziest part was just being in there and our internet connection wasn’t great, so searching things was taking really long,” continues Corbyn Besson. “My texts wouldn’t even send [and] I was…trying to talk to my mom and dad.”

They found out how many people had been shot only hours later.  Meanwhile, their fans, who knew they were at the Luxor, were worried sick.

Jack Avery says, “They were saying they weren’t going to sleep until they knew we were OK, which was awesome.”

The guys are still shaken and want to help the victims any way they can.

“They were innocent,” Jack says. “They were probably just coming to have a great time in Las Vegas. I don’t understand.”

In happier news, on Thursday afternoon, Why Don’t We made their debut on MTV’s newly rebooted TRLa show they were too young to watch the first time around.

“My mom tells me stories all the time about TRL and Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears and all of them on there,” Zach laughs.  “She gave me a big talk about how she used to love the show and watch it all the time and how crazy it is I’m gonna be on it.”

Pink takes on Trump, Dr. Luke & sexism in “New York Times” interview

Sølve SundsbøIn a New York Times interview, Pink admits even she’s not quite sure why her career’s lasted this long.  After all, as she tells the paper, “I’ve never won the popularity contest.”

“I was never as big as Britney or Christina,” notes Pink, who’s been scoring hits for 17 years. “If you look at any paragraph about pop music, I don’t get mentioned — my name doesn’t come up. And yet, here I go again, right under the wave, duck-diving.”

Pink’s new album, Beautiful Trauma, comes out next week, and she confirms that the first single, “What About Us,” is about the current political situation.  She’s been outspoken about her dislike of President Trump, telling the Times: “It’s not even about politics anymore, it’s just about human decency.”

The singer also has nothing nice to say about hitmaking producer Dr. Luke, whom Kesha‘s accused of being sexually and verbally abusive to her. Pink, who last worked with Luke in 2006, says “I know that regardless of whether or not Dr. Luke did that, this is his karma and he earned it because he’s not a good person.  I have told him that to his face and I do not work with him.”

Dr. Luke has denied Kesha’s accusations.

As for her own experiences with sexism in the music industry, Pink describes her record label’s reaction when, prior to giving birth to her nine-month-old son Jameson, she had a miscarriage.

“[They] were super excited because I was pregnant. They were like, ‘Oh, this means we’re getting to the goal [of a new album],’” she tells the Times. “So when they found out I had a miscarriage…I could just see their wheels turning. ‘So, yeah, you’re going to try again?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to try again.’”

Tyrese blames The Rock for delaying the “Fast and Furious” sequel

ABC/Jeff Niera(LOS ANGELES) — Tyrese Gibson is calling out his Fast and Furious co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for delaying the franchise’s upcoming installment and “making [it] all about” him.

After Universal Pictures postponed the release date of Fast and Furious 9 from April 2019 to April 2020, Gibson suggested in an online post that the film’s delay was a result of Johnson’s potential Furious spinoff, focusing on his character Luke Hobbs.

“#PSA Congratulations to @TheRock and your brother in law aka 7 bucks producing partner @hhgarcia41 for making the fast and the furious franchise about YOU,” Gibson wrote on Instagram, captioning an image that announced the new F9 date.

He continued, “And like you, DJ even if they call I will not be deleting this post – Gn folks see you in 2020 April #FastFamily right? Nah… it’s about #TeamDwayne.”

Gibson concluded, “#3yrs will it be worth the wait? #NoShaw just Hobbs will this be another #Baywatch? Guys guys just relax I’m just a passionate film critic.”

Tyrese’s comments comes after he offered The Rock some strong words concerning his potential Fast and Furious spinoff last month.

“If you move forward with that #Hobbs Movie you will have purposely ignored the heart to heart moment we had in my Sprinter,” Gibson wrote in a since-deleted comment on Rock’s Instagram page that was captured by The Shade Room.

“I don’t wanna hear from you until you remember what we talked about. I’m on your timeline cause you’re not responding to my text messages — #FastFamily is just that a family…….. We don’t fly solo.”

Julia Michaels lands on “People”‘s Ones to Watch List for 2017

Meredith TruaxAfter penning a string of hits for artists like Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, Julia Michaels is now a star herself, thanks to her hit “Issues” and the other tracks on her debut EP, Nervous System.   The latest recognition that she’s no longer a behind-the-scenes figure? She’s just landed on People magazine’s Ones to Watch list.

Since 2012, People has put together its Ones to Watch list of promising newcomers, some of which go on to become massively famous.  Julia’s one of this year’s group — she tells the magazine, “I get to have a voice now. I’ve never felt like I had one before. It’s pretty cool.”

But when asked to name that one moment where she felt like she’d made it as a star in her own right, Julia can’t really come up with one.

“Every single day feels like an accomplishment,” she tells People. “[Being on this list] feels like an accomplishment. Putting a song of mine out for the first time — that feels like an accomplishment.  So it just depends on the day.”

Others on the list this year include Michael Jackson‘s daughter Paris Jackson, country singer Carly Pearce, Dennis Quaid‘s son, actor Jack Quaid, black-ish star Marcus Scribner, former Walking Dead star Emily Kinney, and Riverdale and Stranger Things star Shannon Purser.

As previously reported, Julia also appears on Maroon 5‘s new album, Red Pill Blues.

Halsey “releases her renegade” in new Jeep ad

FCA US LLCHalsey is showing her renegade spirit in a new commercial for Jeep.

It’s the first ad in a series of “Release Your Renegade” videos, which celebrates women in music who break the mold. Set to the backdrop of her latest single, “Bad at Love,” Halsey explains what makes her a renegade.

“I’ve chosen to be loud, to be unique, to be authentic, and unapologetically me,” she says in the clip.

In addition to the ad, Jeep has also launched another video featuring Halsey, where she shares her memories of her first vehicle: a Jeep Grand Cherokee. She says she used to write songs in her car before she was famous.

“Singing songs in my house meant that my parents would hear me and tell me that I needed to pick something else to do with my time,” she says. “So, being in my car meant total freedom, the ability to make mistakes and maybe make a complete fool out of myself. Because sometimes, those mistakes turn out to be the greatest part of a song.”

Halsey’s ad debuts on television today.

“The Ash vs. Evil Dead” gang take on New York Comic Con

(L-R) Dana DeLorenzo, Arielle Carver-O’Neill, Bruce Campbell, Ray Santiago(NEW YORK) — New York Comic Con gets underway today, which means you’re more likely than usual to see zombies and creatures from another dimension roaming the streets of the Big Apple.  The four-day expo also gives thousands of fans a chance to rub costumed elbows with celebrities from the worlds of comics, movies, and TV.

It’s also where studios try to earn some geek cred. Two years ago at the event, Starz’ Ash vs. Evil Dead got off to a strong start, and it’s just been renewed for a third season.  The story centers on the continuing adventures of Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams, the chainsaw-handed demon killing machine from 1981’s bloody classic horror comedy The Evil Dead.

The opening moments of that pilot episode showed the now middle-aged Ash strapping himself into a girdle, and getting ready for action — of the female kind. Fans went ape.  “That was a key moment,” Campbell told ABC Radio.

“And it was important for Starz to see that, too,” he adds. “To see an episode in front of the savages. And they ate it up!…So we’re very thankful to New Yaawwk, for helping launch the show.”

The show pairs Campbell up with a younger cast, including Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo. They shared with ABC Radio a side of these events the fans don’t see.

“The green rooms at conventions are awesome,” Campbell says, referring to the rooms where the stars hang out between appearances. “Elvira is making green tea…Shatner’s tweeting like a son of a bit**.”

DeLorenzo adds, “Mark Hamill’s like, dishing out the eggs. It’s like a ‘Who’s Who.'” Campbell laughs, “And Stan Lee is asleep in the corner!”

“Carrie Fisher was eating breakfast potatoes with her hands, then fell asleep, and her dog was licking her face,” Santiago added. “That’s what I remember.”

Two seasons of Ash vs. Evil Dead are available on Starz On Demand. Season 3 debuts next February.

Listen now: Rachel Platten is done trying to be “Perfect for You” in new song

Sarah Barlow + Stephen SchofieldRachel Platten’s latest empowerment tune, “Perfect for You,” was a last-minute addition to her upcoming new album.

Entertainment Weekly has a first listen of the song, a funk-infused declaration that she’s tired of trying to please other people.

Rachel says she was inspired to write the track after releasing her single, “Broken Glass,” in August and feeling the anxiety of having it judged by the world.

“I wrote it a week before the record was due and it was a humongous scream of, ‘Screw it!’ I am done worrying about what everyone thinks of me,” she tells EW. “I care too much. I have to stop. I am good enough as I am.”

She says she ended up making “Perfect for You” the first song on the album

“I want everyone to hear where I’m at,” she says. “How exhausted I am trying to please other people, how tired I am of trying to be perfect for everyone else, how much I am owning my art, how much I love what I made and I hope the world does too, but honestly, I’m learning that it doesn’t matter.  My job is to make the best art possible, which I think I did. Beyond that, it’s out of my hands.”

“Perfect for You” will be available tomorrow as an instant grat track when you pre-order her album, Waves, which is set for an October 27 release.
