Watch now: New “Lady Gaga: Five Foot Two” trailer reveals singer’s pain, loneliness

Courtesy NetflixAhead of the documentary’s debut this Friday, Netflix has released an official trailer for Lady Gaga: Five Foot Two.

The trailer shows some of the ups and downs of Gaga’s life, including her chronic pain, loneliness, and relationship with her family. It also offers glimpses into the making of her album, Joanne, and how her Super Bowl performance came together.

“I can always bring my past with me,” Gaga says in the trailer. “But I can never go back. You gotta leave yourself behind.”

In another scene, Gaga reveals, “I didn’t feel good enough, and I do now. That’s the good part.”

The trailer ends with a funny scene of Gaga asking a cashier if the store has the new Lady Gaga album. The cashier, who clearly doesn’t recognize her, has no idea what she’s talking about.

The documentary premieres Friday, September 22 on Netflix.

How Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West keep their family grounded

ABC/Lorenzo Bevilaqua

(LOS ANGELES) — Kim Kardashian West has everything a girl could want, but in Allure‘s October edition, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star admits she and husband Kanye West want to make sure that her kids don’t have too much.

“We don’t do gifts,” says Kim. “[Kanye and I] talk about it all the time, about not getting too much and trying to be as grounded and well-rounded as possible…I don’t like presents anymore.”

The couple was just as stingy when it came to celebrating their recent wedding anniversary, according to Kim, who reveals they “just did absolutely nothing. We spent two days in Santa Barbara, and we slept.”

“You know what? I think we went to IHOP,” she adds.

Kardashain West says it’s the simple things that matter most to her, like a plastic jewelry box her 4-year-old daughter North gave her just before she traveled to Paris last year and was later robbed.

Kim admits feeling a little anxious before taking off on that trip because of recent terrorist attacks, and her daughter wanted to reassure her by giving her one of her treasured items.

“She gave me a little plastic treasure box, and she put her little jewels in it — like fake little plastic jewels — and she was like, ‘Mommy, this will keep you safe when you go to Paris,” Kardashian West recalled. “To have something really sweet like that is more important to me than all the jewelry.”

In addition to North, Kim and Kanye are parents to one-year-old son, Saint, and reportedly are expecting baby number three — via a surrogate — by the end of January.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians returns Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on E!

“Kingsman” star Taron Egerton on new sequel: “It’s like the first one, but with a shot of adrenaline”

Taron Eggerton as Eggsy — 20th Century Fox(LONDON) — Kingsman: The Golden Circle — the sequel to 2015’s Kingsman: The Secret Service — premiered in London on Monday.

Taron Egerton, who plays British secret agent Eggsy Unwin, said the movie is A LOT more of the same.

“I think [director] Matthew [Vaughn] recognized that it was necessary that we do what we did in the first one that everyone loved,” he says, “but…there’s also lots of new and exciting things that you haven’t seen before.”

Explains Egerton, “It’s like the first one, but with a shot of adrenaline. And Elton John.”

The movie pairs the British secret agents with American counterparts, and the cast includes Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum and Julianne Moore.

“It was fun,” Vaughn says about the expanded Kingsman universe. “I could play around with the culture clashes and get to work with some icons, so nothing to complain about.”

Speaking of icons, it was a text from returning star Colin Firth that sealed the deal for Moore to play the film’s villain.

“I wasn’t going to take no for an answer this time,” Firth says.  “I’ve been trying – ’cause Julianne and I worked together about seven years ago or something, and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and we’ve stayed very good friends, but trying to reel her in on another project hasn’t been the easiest thing.”

As for Tatum, who plays a Statesman — an American counterpart to the Kingsmen — he just had fun with the accent and the language. “I’m pretty sure no one understood anything that I said in the whole movie,” he explains. “I’m talking like, ‘You smiling like a dead pig in sunshine’ and stuff, so it’s real silly, but super fun to do.”

Kingsman: The Golden Circle opens in the U.S. on Friday.

Martin Lawrence, Mariah Carey, and others hailed at “VH1 Hip Hop Honors”

Courtesy of VH1(LOS ANGELES) — On Monday night, VH1 brought together an all star line up for its Hip Hop Honors: The ’90s Game Changers event in Hollywood. The ’90s style block party celebrated the golden era of hip-hop and shed light on the influential genre and how it crossed over into pop culture.

Hosted by Regina Hall, the event honored Master P, Jermaine Dupri, Martin Lawrence, director Hype Williams and Mariah Carey.

Comedy also had a place at the Hip Hop Honors. When Tischina Arnold went to present Martin Lawrence with his award, the Survivor’s Remorse actress was repeatedly interrupted during her speech by Lamorne Morris, Affion Crocket and Regina Hall who were all dressed as memorable characters from Martin.

The event also featured a number of signature performances which included Fat Joe and Remy Ma performing Big Pun’s “Not a Player,” Warren G performing “Regulate” with Ty Dolla $ign, Xscape performing TLC’s “No Scrubs” and Ty Dolla $ign doing a melodic rendition of Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It.”

The event took a more serious turn when Pharrell Williams presented Hype Williams with his award. In a seemingly unrehearsed speech, Pharrell offered a heartfelt message about the current political climate asking everyone to “open your eyes.”

Lil Kim, Havoc and Fabolous hit the stage to perform “Quiet Storm” in tribute to the late Prodigy of Mobb Deep, who died earlier this year.

Yet, even with all the notable performances and speeches, DJ Khaled’s son, Asahd Khaled, stole the show when he accompanied his father on stage to honor a true ’90s icon: Mariah Carey.

After the Khaleds introduced Mariah, the singer sweetened the night by performing “Honey” and enlisting some of the song’s most notable featured guests who included Da Brat, Jermaine Dupree, Mase and The Lox.

Sean Spicer on his surprise Emmys appearance: “It’s an honor”

CBS ©2017 CBS Broadcasting, Inc./Trae Patton(LOS ANGELES) — Emmy audiences at home, and in the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, where stunned Sunday night, when, during his opening monologue, host Stephen Colbert brought out former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. Spicer lampooned his own first White House press conference — about the size of the audience at President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

While Hollywood is not thought to be the most receptive crowd for Trump administration officials, Spicer said he had no trepidation about the appearance.

“It’s an honor,” Spicer told The Hollywood Reporter at an Emmys after-party Sunday night. “I have a lot of respect for folks who do what they do in film and on television, so it’s a real honor to be invited.”

Spicer said Colbert and the show’s executive producer reached out to him and pitch him the idea — which had him using a moving podium of the sort that Melissa McCarthy used to spoof Spicer during her Emmy-winning appearance on Saturday Night Live, and addressing the size of the Emmys audience.

“They came up with a concept, and I thought it was kinda funny,” Spicer said. “I said I’d be there.”

So was Spicer worried about the kind of reaction he might get in a notoriously liberal room? “I was more worried about the logistical reactions,” he said. “I’ve never wheeled a podium before. The one I’m used to is pretty stationary.”

Backstage, “Dancing with the Stars” contests are pumped up after season premiere

ABC/Eric McCandless(LOS ANGELES) — The battle for the Mirror Ball trophy got underway Monday night as season 25 of Dancing with the Stars premiered.

No contestants broke away from the pack on the premiere.  But backstage, many told ABC Radio they were happy with their performances and excited about the competition.

Former NFL star Terrell Owens finished the night second to last, but, the night got his competitive juices flowing. “This whole thing is bringing about the kid in me again, so I’m just enjoying every moment of it,” he said.

Musician Lindsey Stirling, who ended the night tied for first, naturally was just as excited. “I honestly don’t think I could have done any better,” she said. “We had a blast doing it, and when we finished it I just got the biggest smile on my face. It’s like, it’s something you can’t explain, that electricity of pure happiness.”

For ESPN reporter and paralympic gold medalist Victoria Arlen, who was paralyzed for 11 years, spend some of her teen years in a vegetative state, and only started walking around 18 months ago after 11 years in a wheelchair, the night was a triumph regardless of her score. “We danced and we did it and my feet did what they were supposed to do and it was just so surreal,” she said. “I’m really blessed it was just an incredible moment.”

Hamilton actor Jordan Fisher ended up tied for first and already was looking ahead to the rest of the competition. “I feel like we under-promised and over-delivered tonight, and I couldn’t be more thrilled and excited for, hopefully for the rest of the season, should America keep us going,” he said.

Dancing with the Stars returns next Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

“Dancing with the Stars 25” recap: The battle for the Mirror Ball trophy gets underway

ABC/Eric McCandless(LOS ANGELES) — Thirteen celebrities and their professional partners strutted their stuff Monday night on the season 25 premiere of Dancing with the Stars in their bid to win the coveted Mirror Ball trophy.

After a splashy production number, hosts Erin Andrews and Tom Bergeron welcomed the new cast and revealed some changes for the landmark season. This year, there are only three judges: Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Due to time limitations, the judges will be limited to one comment per couple. How they’ll be able to contain Bruno all season remains to be seen.

Things got underway with NFL champion Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke, returning for her 20th season. They danced a cha-cha to The Temptations’ “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg.” While Owens may be fleet-footed on the football field, Len cautioned him to watch his feet. The judges awarded a total of 15, which would end up being the lowest score of the night.

1980s teen singing sensation Debbie Gibson danced a foxtrot with partner Alan Bersten to her own “Lost in Your Eyes.” Bruno told her to watch her arms and shoulders. The judges gave her 17.

HGTV’s Property Brothers star Drew Scott promised dancer Emma Slater he’d renovate her kitchen if they win. Their biggest problem is that he’s 6’4″ and she’s 5’4″. They came out, appropriately, to “Our House” by Madness, and while they were fun to watch, Len told Drew, “If you were a house, you would be a fixer-upper.” The couple took a 16.

Shark Tank star and self-proclaimed cougar Barbara Cocoran bared her claws early in the pre-interview saying, “I would be happy with any of the guys here. I’ll take anybody. Oh, yeah. Come to mama.” Partnered with Keo Motsepe, their salsa did not impress the judges and she got the low score of the night with 14.

Hamilton star Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold tangoed in the high score of the night, with 22. With his Broadway experience and gymnastics background, Fisher could be a real contender for the Mirror Ball trophy.

WWE star Nikki Bella proved to be fierce in her pre-interview, body slamming Artem Chigvintsev, but was less confident going in for her dance. Len said she had good body context but needed to stop looking down and earned 20.

In her pre-interview, ESPN personality and former American paralympian swimmer Victoria Arlen shared her heartbreaking tale of overcoming adversity. “I was paralyzed for 11 years,” she said. “When I was 10, I got sick and slipped into a vegetative state for four years, and was pretty much written off as a lost cause. At 15, I started to slowly make my way back into the world. About a year and a half ago, I started walking after spending ten years in a wheelchair. I can’t feel my legs. If I fall, I apologize. I think this is a big statement to myself as well as the people that wrote me off, I’m here, I lived, and I’m ready to dance.”

Victoria and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy danced a cha-cha and earned a 19 from the judges.

Nick Lachey, who was a member of the boy band 98 Degrees, and whose brother won DWTS season two, said, “Because I was in a boy band, people assume I can dance. But 98 degrees was the non-dancing boy band.” His cha-cha with Peta Murgatroyd earned them an 18 total.

Nick’s wife Vanessa, danced with Nick’s partner’s husband, Maks. Their cha-cha impressed Len Goodman, who said, “Vanessa can dance!” as the couple took a 21 for their first dance.

Lindsey Stirling, a Billboard number-one artist who has appeared on the show danced a cha-cha with returning pro and two-time champion, Mark Ballas. Len said, “You come out with the cha-cha-cha, crisp, clean, lovely leg action, nice hip action. That, for me, is the dance of the night.” The judges awarded her 22, tying for first place with Jordan Fisher.

Judges’ Scores:
Jordan & Lindsay – 22 out of 30
Lindsey & Mark – 22
Vanessa & Maks – 21
Nikki & Artem – 20
Victoria & Val – 19
Frankie & Witney – 19
Nick & Peta – 18
Derek & Sharna – 18
Sasha & Gleb – 18
Debbie & Alan – 17
Drew & Emma – 16
Terrell & Cheryl – 15
Barbara & Keo – 14

Miley Cyrus doesn’t “envision marriage” to Liam Hemsworth anytime soon

James Devaney/GC ImagesMiley Cyrus‘ engagement to Liam Hemsworth may be back on, but the marriage still looks like it’s a long way off.

“I don’t envision marriage. I’m 24. I hope I get to live a little bit more. I have too much living to do [before I get married],” the “Malibu” singer tells The Sun.

The reconciliation came as a surprise to many people, including Cyrus, she admits, “Three years ago, if you’d asked me if I’d be here, this happy with this man, I’d have been stunned.”

“I’m just riding this out,” she continues. “In some relationships, you lose yourself by being with someone else. Actually, it made me find myself more. I have no idea what the next three years will bring, but if it’s possible to get even happier, I’ll take it.”

Adds Miley, “I didn’t know [we’d get back together]. I’m so crazy I have no idea, but I had something in my heart, it never felt like it was really over. We kept a great friendship really private.”

As happy as she is that the engagement is back on, Miley — who returns as a coach on this season’s The Voice — insists the break up did her and Liam a lot of good.

“It’s good for people to have that space to grow individually. Otherwise, when you’re with someone from 16 until 24, you grow into the same person,” she explains. “We got to become individuals. I hope everything stays the same. It feels like nothing changed except we grew up a lot.”

The Voice returns for its 13th season Monday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

Alessia Cara says hit Zedd collabo “Stay” let her be “a lot bolder” musically

ABC/Heidi GutmanAlessia Cara is busy working on her sophomore album, but she’s been top of mind over the summer thanks to her smash collaboration with Zedd, “Stay.”  She says the EDM-flavored tune was a bit of a change in artistic direction for her, but she’s glad she did it.

“It was really different for me, it’s a lot bolder than my usual stuff,” Alessia tells ABC Radio. “But I thought if I was gonna do something [with another artist], I wanna sing on a song that I really believe in and work with on a song I believe in and work with an artist, or a deejay, that I really like.”

Alessia says she and Zedd hooked up the collabo the way everything is done these days: online.

“He actually emailed [the song] to me which is, y’know, very millennial of us to do,” she laughs. “Like, ‘Let me just send it to you online!’ But, I mean, we’ve wanted to work together for a really long time.”

“He just sent me the beginning of the song that was written, and he was like, ‘Hey, do you wanna finish this, do you wanna do it with me?'” she adds. “And just hearing it and listening to the beginning of it, I knew that it was a really great song.”  The video for the song went on to win the Best Dance Video trophy at the MTV VMAs last month.

Despite the success of “Stay,” Alessia says she’s not necessarily going to incorporate EDM sounds into her next album, but she does says she’ll do “some fun stuff.”  We’re not likely to hear any new music from the Canadian star until 2018, unfortunately.

Sam Smith wanted to make a “gay” version of “A Star Is Born”…with Ryan Gosling

Ruven AfanadorWhile Sam Smith has won an Oscar for a movie song — his James Bond theme “Writing’s on the Wall” — he hasn’t actually acted in a movie.  But he says at one point, he really wanted to star in a big screen romance…opposite Ryan Gosling.

Speaking to Attitude magazine, Sam explained that when he and James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli were in Mexico for the premiere of the Bond movie SPECTRE, they teamed up “to pitch the studio a gay rework of A Star is Born.”

“We were drunk, and at that point, unaware that [Lady] Gaga was redoing it anyway,” Sam recalled. “We had it all worked out. I wanted to [sing] ‘The Man that Got Away.'” That song appeared in the 1954 version of A Star Is Born, which starred Judy Garland.

In his version of the movie, Sam planned to play the young rising star, portrayed by Barbra Streisand in the 1976 version of A Star Is Born, and by Lady Gaga in the upcoming remake that’s coming out in 2018. When asked who would star opposite him as the established star whose career is in decline — a role played by Kris Kristofferson in 1976 and by Bradley Cooper in the upcoming remake — Sam had an immediate answer.

Ryan Gosling!” he said. “I met him once and he shook my hand. It was like meeting Hercules.  He’s beautiful.”

Now that’s a movie many fans would no doubt be happy to pay full price to see in a theater.
