Jesse Eisenberg does not want to be associated with Mark Zuckerberg

Monica Schipper/Getty Images for IMDb

Jesse Eisenberg wants you to know he doesn’t claim Mark Zuckerberg.

The actor played the Meta CEO and Facebook creator in the 2010 film The Social Network, a portrayal for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. While speaking with BBC 4 on Tuesday, Eisenberg said he doesn’t want to think of himself “as associated with somebody like that.”

“It’s not like I played a great golfer or something and now people think I’m a great golfer,” Eisenberg said. “It’s like this guy that’s doing things that are problematic, taking away fact-checking and safety concerns, making people who are already threatened in this world more threatened.”

Eisenberg also said he’s concerned by recent developments at Meta and with the tech world in general.

“These people have billions upon billions of dollars, like more money than any human person has ever amassed and what are they doing with it?” Eisenberg said. “Oh, they’re doing it to curry favor with somebody who’s preaching hate. That’s what I think … not as like a person who played in a movie. I think of it as somebody who is married to a woman who teaches disability justice in New York and lives for her students are going to get a little harder this year.”

The actor could be referring to Zuckerberg’s changes to Facebook and Instagram in the lead-up to Donald Trump‘s second presidential term, including the end of fact-checking on those platforms and the axing of diversity programs at Meta.

Music notes: The Grammys, Taylor Swift and more

Sunday night’s Grammy Awards doubled as a fundraiser for LA wildfire relief, and now we know just how much money was raised. The telecast brought in $9 million, while various Grammy weekend events raised over $24 million for charity. Meanwhile, 15.4 million people tuned in to CBS’ broadcast of the show — that’s down slightly from last year, when 16.9 million people tuned in to watch Taylor Swift win album of the year for Midnights.

Speaking of Taylor, her boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s favorite album of hers isn’t Midnights — it’s The Tortured Poets Department. That’s according to an interview with a reporter from Nickelodeon, to whom Travis also revealed his favorite songs on the album: “The Alchemy” and “So High School,” both of which are reportedly about him. However, Travis said he could “neither confirm nor deny” whether Reputation (Taylor’s Version) is on its way.

Ahead of this year’s Record Store Day, Olivia Rodrigo is selling out her remaining stock of last year’s special vinyl release, in case you didn’t get it the first time around. You can now order GUTS (spilled), a two-LP set pressed on red-and-purple marble vinyl, on Liv’s website. It includes all the songs on the original GUTS album, plus the five additional songs released on the GUTS (spilled) edition, including “obsessed” and “so american.”

Damiano David has been named the global PR ambassador for Bvlgari, the luxury Italian jewelry brand. The Rome-born singer says in a statement, “Jewelry is a magnificent and genderless accessory that I have always loved to wear. The history of Bvlgari is a tale of beauty and Italian excellence, and like all the excellences of our country, it fills me with pride.”

Lady Gaga thanks fans for her ‘very special’ new Grammy

Francis Specker/CBS

After winning the best pop duo/group performance Grammy on Sunday for her Bruno Mars duet “Die With a Smile,” Lady Gaga took to Instagram on Tuesday to thank her fans.

“My 14th Grammy award is a very special one,” she captioned the post. “Being a songwriter, all I want to do is tell stories that touch peoples hearts. Telling this story with Bruno about love is truly a piece of my soul—love is what we all need right now.”

She added, “Thank you little monsters—wherever you go that’s where I’ll follow.”

On his Instagram Story, Bruno posted a photo of the moment their win was announced: Gaga is sitting at their table, kissing her fiancé, Michael Polansky, while Bruno is standing up, all alone. He soundtracked the photo with the ballad “All By Myself” by the late Eric Carmen.

In addition to scooping the award, Gaga and Bruno performed on the telecast, singing the classic hit “California Dreamin'” by The Mamas & the Papas in tribute to Los Angeles.

Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick are headed to South by Southwest.

The sequel to their film A Simple Favor, called Another Simple Favor, will serve as the opening night premiere film at the SXSW festival. Directed by Paul Feig, the film follows Kendrick’s Stephanie and Lively’s Emily as they head to the island of Capri in Italy. There, Emily is to be married to a rich Italian businessman.

“Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square,” a press release for the film describes.

Also starring in the film are Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Elizabeth Perkins, Michele Morrone, Alex Newell, Henry Golding and Allison Janney.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be back at my favorite festival in the world where we successfully launched Bridesmaids and Spy, and I cannot begin to say how honored I am to have our film opening it all,” Feig said in a statement. “I’ve avoided making sequels to any of my films but these characters were just too much fun not to revisit.”

The South by Southwest Conference and Festivals will take place from March 7-14 in Austin, Texas.

Jelly Roll is ‘American Idol”s first-ever artist in residence

Disney/Eric McCandless

After Katy Perry announced she was leaving American Idol, some felt that Jelly Roll, who got rave reviews as a performer and a guest mentor during season 22, would be a good replacement. Well, that didn’t happen — but the next best thing did.

The “I Am Not Okay” hitmaker has just been announced as the ABC reality competition’s first-ever artist in residence. In his new capacity, Jelly will work closely with this year’s Idol contestants and offer them guidance as they navigate their journeys. He’s set to step into his role during Hollywood Week.

Jelly says in a teaser, “I feel like I’m giving [the contestants] the energy they need, I’m uplifting, and tryin’ to get ’em goin!” He then proceeds to “uplift” host Ryan Seacrest by slinging him over his shoulder and carrying him across the room.

The new season will mark Carrie Underwood‘s debut as a judge — the former Idol champ is the one who replaced Katy. In addition, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie are returning as judges.

Season 23 of American Idol premieres March 9 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. A special season preview will air after the Oscars on March 2 on ABC.

‘Call me by the old, familiar name’: Watch The Weeknd in trailer for ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’

Andrew Cooper/Lionsgate

The trailer for Hurry Up Tomorrow, based on an original idea by and starring The Weeknd, has arrived.

The film, co-starring Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega and Saltburn‘s Barry Keoghan, is about a musician who has insomnia. According to a press release, he’s “pulled into an odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence.”

In the film, we see The Weeknd, credited under his birth name, Abel Tesfaye, performing onstage, slowly sinking under the water in a bathtub and tied to a bed by Ortega’s character. She tells him, “I know this is all really intense but I’m not trying to hurt you. I’m really sorry about this. I really am.”

“What the f*** is going on?” he responds. We then see Ortega acting suspiciously while she loads something into a car and drives away.

Meanwhile, Keoghan seems to be some kind of manager or assistant to the singer, embracing him and telling him, “Stop self-doubting! You’re f****** invincible!”

Throughout the trailer, we hear distorted voices, both male and female. “Death is nothing at all. It does not kill,” says one. “Everything remains exactly how it was. Whatever we were to each other, we are still.”

Twice we hear a distorted voice say, “Call me by the old, familiar name,” followed by the sound of a woman screaming, “Abel!” That’s intriguing, considering the fact that The Weeknd has recently spoken of his desire to stop using that stage name and be known once more as Abel.

Hurry Up Tomorrow is in theaters May 16. The Weeknd’s album of the same name was released on Jan. 31.

Didn’t win a Grammy? Miley Cyrus has a message for you

Sonja Flemming/CBS

Miley Cyrus won her first Grammys last year, and on Sunday she won another one, for her collaboration with Beyoncé. But since she spent so many years Grammy-less, she offered a tribute to those who go home empty-handed.

Miley wrote on Instagram, “Having your name called is an honor that deserves to be celebrated. Just remember for those who don’t, nothing can take away the love and devotion you put into your art.”

“I celebrate the unrecognized artists that created something beautiful and shared it with us,” she concluded.

Miley thanked Beyoncé “for inviting me to be a part of your iconic Cowboy Carter era,” adding, “Love you forever.”

Miley won record of the year and best pop solo performance last year for “Flowers.” With Bey, she won best country duo/group performance for the Cowboy Carter track “II Most Wanted.”

Some have noted that Miley now has a country Grammy, while her father, country star Billy Ray Cyrus, does not. He does, however, have two pop Grammys, both for “Old Town Road.”
