The Weeknd is donating $1 million to LA wildfire relief

After postponing the release of his album Hurry Up Tomorrow and canceling his one-night-only Rose Bowl concert in support of the album, The Weeknd has now taken further action in the wake of the deadly LA wildfires.

In partnership with his XO Humanitarian Fund and the World Food Program USA, The Weeknd has committed to donating $1 million to relief efforts. The money will go to the LA Fire Department Foundation, GoFundMe’s Wildfire Relief Fund and LA Regional Food Bank to help displaced residents, make sure everyone has enough food and support firefighters.

The singer’s album will now come out Jan. 31. As previously reported, the movie Hurry Up Tomorrow, in which he stars alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, arrives May 16.

Weeknd also paid tribute to visionary director David Lynch, whose death at age 78 was reported Jan. 16. He posted a photo of Lynch kneeling in front of an angel, captioned, “everything is fine.” He’s referring to a song that’s performed in Lynch’s cult classic Eraserhead, called “In Heaven (Everything is Fine).”

See Joe Jonas don drag in new TikTok video

ABC/Jose Alvarado

From Joe to … Joanne? Joe Jonas‘ latest TikTok shows him in full drag.

In the video, Joe is sporting a full face of makeup, a blond bob wig and a black satin dress with a plunging neckline that shows off his chest tattoo. He lip-synchs to a TikTok sound of a woman saying, “I’m going roller skating. Don’t. Touch. My. Stuff!”

It’s not clear why Joe dressed like a woman. He and the Jonas Brothers just dropped a new single with Marshmello called “Slow Motion.” Plus, he, Nick and Kevin are also busy filming a Disney+ Christmas movie in Toronto. Perhaps he dressed in drag for one of those two projects?

Meanwhile, the release of Joe’s solo album Music for People Who Believe in Love, which was supposed to come out in October, has been delayed; it currently doesn’t have a release date.

Greta Gerwig’s ‘Narnia’ gets Imax release before Netflix debut

Greta Gerwig is bringing her Narnia adaptation to the big screen.

The film, which is being made for Netflix, will get an exclusive two-week global run on Imax screens, according to Variety. It will open in movie theaters on Thanksgiving Day 2026. Narnia will play in movie theaters in 90 countries in over 1,000 cinemas ahead of its streaming release on Netflix on Christmas Day 2026. It’s based on The Chronicles of Narnia book series by C.S. Lewis.

Puck first reported the news that a deal with Imax had been reached after months of negotiations. It is a rarity for Netflix, which does sometimes have limited theatrical releases in order for its titles to qualify for The Oscars, but mostly prefers to have its films debut on its streaming platform.

Narnia is one of a few exceptions. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery had an exclusive one-week run in over 600 theaters before its streaming release back in 2022, making it the streamer’s widest-ever theatrical release to date.

Netflix recruited Gerwig to direct their Narnia adaptation back in 2020. In 2023, the director helmed the year’s highest-grossing film, Barbie, which earned almost $1.5 billion worldwide.

Cold water indeed: New Justin Bieber photos leave little to the imagination

Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images

Remember when Justin Bieber posed for those Calvin Klein underwear ads? Well, believe it or not, he’s just posted some photos of himself wearing Calvin Klein underwear that shows even more than those shots.

Justin and his family have been on vacation in snowy Aspen, Colorado, and while there, the singer evidently did the polar bear plunge: he posted a photo of himself climbing out of a snowy mountain stream, soaking wet and wearing nothing but underwear, a knit cap and boots. And now he’s shared a photo on his Instagram Story of what appears to be the immediate aftermath of that dip.

In the photo, Justin’s sitting in an Adirondack chair wearing only his soaking wet tighty-whities — and let’s just say it’s not just his tattoos that are on full display.

Justin’s photo dumps from earlier in the week mostly showed himself and wife Hailey all bundled up against the cold, and in one black-and-white photo he appears to be kissing the head of his baby son, Jack Blues

A now-deleted Instagram Story from Jan. 15 also showed Justin driving in a car while listening to and singing along with a song that fans are convinced is a new track. That Story included an emoji of a film camera and hand-writing emoji, which fans believe indicates Justin is writing new music and creating new visuals.

That post followed an earlier story in the industry insider newsletter Puck that claimed that Justin’s plotting a comeback for 2025 because he “needs the money.”

Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’ still blooming after 100 weeks on chart

VALERIE MACON/AFP via Getty Images

The “Flowers” that Miley Cyrus planted two years ago haven’t wilted yet.

Miley’s Grammy-winning hit is spending its 100th week on Billboard‘s Adult Contemporary chart. That milestone comes after the song set a record by spending 57 weeks at #1 on that tally.

And while 100 weeks is impressive, it isn’t a record — “Flowers” is now the fifth song to have spent that long on the chart. The others include Sarah McLachlan‘s “I Will Remember You,” which also lasted for 100 weeks; “I Need You” by LeAnn Rimes, with 104 weeks; and “Unstoppable” by Sia, with 117 weeks.

The top two, though, are by the same act, which doesn’t even exist anymore: Australian duo Savage Garden. Their hit “Truly Madly Deeply” lasted for 123 weeks on the chart in the late ’90s, and their smash “I Knew I Loved You” holds the all-time record, 124 weeks on the chart between 1999 and 2002.

Miley has said she plans to release a “visual album” this year that’s inspired by the 1982 movie Pink Floyd – The Wall.

‘Severance’ returns, but the cast won’t spill the tea: ‘People want to be on the journey of mystery’

Sarah Bock, Adam Scott, John Turturro, Zach Cherry and Britt Lower in “Severance,” premiering January 17, 2025 on Apple TV+/Courtesy Apple TV+

Innies and outies, rejoice! AppleTV+’s Severance is finally back for a second season. The show follows co-workers at a mysterious, cult-like company who volunteer for a procedure that separates their work life and their home life: While at work, they have no memory of their home life and vice versa. The first season ended with a massive cliff-hanger, and fans have been pondering theories ever since.

Britt Lower, who plays Helly, and John Turturro, who plays Irving, say in the three years the show’s been gone, they’ve been asked for spoilers many times.

“I think there’s that moment that we’ve all experienced of someone wanting to know and then saying immediately, ‘But don’t tell me anything!'” Lower tells ABC Audio. “And I think people want to be on the journey of mystery.”

“Right? That’s part of the fun for the audience,” Turturro adds. “They really are participating that way — the longer it goes on, the better it is.”

Patricia Arquette, who plays seemingly evil manager Harmony Cobel, says she simply channels her character when people press her for details.

“It’s funny, I don’t really carry around characters very much, but when people ask me, a little inner Cobel comes out,” she says. “I really want to lie to them. I want to throw them off of the scent.”

Christopher Walken, who plays Turturro’s romantic interest, Burt, likes that Severance‘s multiple mysteries mean the “audience is always catching up.” He tells ABC Audio, “It’s the element of surprise, which in show business is very valuable.”

In addition to being mysterious, Walken says Severance is “a little bit funny” and “a little bit scary, which is always a good combination.” He also likes the fact that as “somebody who plays all these unsavory characters,” he gets to play “a good guy and a love interest,” noting, “I don’t get a lot of that.”
