Joshua Black WilkinsMichelle Branch is living in a black-and-white world in a new video from her long-awaited new album, Hopeless Romantic.

The black-and-white clip is for the upbeat song “Best You Ever,” and features Michelle recording the song in what looks like a home studio.  She plays a number of different guitars, lays down vocals behind a mic and works at a recording console.  Her producer and current love interest, Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, can briefly be seen playing drums.

The song itself is a kiss-off to a former lover, with Michelle singing, “I want you to remember me/every time you scream/as the best you ever/I want you to remember me/in a lucid dream/as the best you ever.”

Michelle’s new album, which she describes as “my first real-life autobiographical record,” will be out April 7.  She’ll appear on Late Night with Seth Meyers on April 6 and give a special concert in New York City the night of the album’s release.
